*peers around the corner and smiles meekly*

Hello all. I want to say that I've been here before, but it has been some time. The site looks much different than I remember. It is an improvement though. Looks more professional than before.

Anyhow, I'm a 28 year old male. Born and raised in a medium sized city in Wisconsin. My wife and I recently moved to Tucson, AZ because of health reasons. I currently work as a customer service representative. Even though customer service has become the closest thing I have to a career, it is not something I wish to spend the remainder of my working years doing. I love helping people, don't get me wrong, however being yelled at by the by and far shockingly ignorant populace of the US is not a life long goal. My creative spirit and need to pay bills without having to worry about a heart attack will force me out of this industry at some point.

I am currently going to school to become a computer programmer. It is one topic which has always held a deep interest for me, but I never truly took the time to learn. I'm almost half way through my associate's program. I am liking things a lot so far. Unfortunately most of the classes have been general education so I am still waiting to learn about my pending career choice. The excitement levels have yet to wane.

I was infected with the writing virus at a young age. Some of my earliest memories are of writing these ridiculously stupid stories and "selling" them to my parents for money to buy candy or as I aged rent video games. I've only been taking writing with any real sense of seriousness for the past 10 years or so. Sadly I have little to show for it, not much more than a collection of poetry written years ago in high school, and several partially written stories. My most serious effort has been in the works for almost 7 years now, and with only 30,000 words (at most). I am hoping that the decision to move from the green farmlands of Wisconsin to the breathtaking deserts of Arizona will help rekindle the fires of creation and get me writing again. I have felt better since setting foot in the sand, but have yet to seriously apply pen to page.

I hope to get to know you all a little bit better.

Thank you on both accounts. I'm really hoping to be able to dive back in to writing on a more consistent basis and make something of this. Finishing a novel would be a dream come true.

Hi, Spintered! I bet you'll get right back into writing grove, here. I spend allot of time in Poetry and would love to hear a poem from you, inspired by the beautiful Arizona. I've been to Tuson but didn't get to see much as I was taking care of my brother after a motorcycle accident. Hope to return someday to soak it all in. Welcome! Laurie

Welcome SplinteredChaos! I was born in Phoenix AZ, so I remember the desert fondly. Hope you find the inspiration you need there, and please post some of your work on the forums.

    Hello SplinteredChaos,

It's funny, I was just thinking of looking up schools for computer programming. I'm not sure I would like it but I am totally fascinated by computers, i know HTML and some design coding, but I'd love to be able to create my own games and programs.

I'm new too BTW, Just wanted to drop in and say high as well.

Hey SplinteredChaos, that's a promising intro. Welcome! I hope this place helps nurture your writing. Maybe think about writing a short story, if you have problems finishing things. That's what I started doing. It's nice to have a completed work to your name, and that's the kind of thing you can chuck up here for feedback. And I find getting feedback is good motivation to finish something, for one, and then it's also my favourite way to learn to improve my writing.

Hopefully we see something of yours soon.

    (Welcome to you too, Balistic.)

    SplinteredChaos,

Wisconsin to Arizona, guess winters will be a bit different.

Welcome to the forum and also with your schooling. The study of organizing and writing an efficient computer program certainly won't hurt with organzing and writing a novel (or other piece). Of course, I am speaking from ancient programming languages like Pascal and COBOL.

Glad you joined the forum here.

    Terry
