Thread: Hi, I'm Brian.

As the title clearly indicates, my name is Brian. I'm a 24-year-old guy from Nebraska, who, from childhood, has found joy through the art of the written word. In May, I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a major in Multimedia and a minor in Journalism.

Now that I'm done with college, I have discovered this pesky little thing called free time, and discovered that when I have it, I'm trying to find something productive to do to use it up. I was an avid forum member prior to college, and so I'm hoping to utilize this site to help me better myself and my craft.

I write both poetry and prose, and while I like prose better, I find poetry easier, with much more positive reviews. By nature, I am somewhere between a pessimist or a realist, so I don't do much optimistic writing. My focus is usually on the emotional battle within, and tends to be rather dark.

I love movies, or perhaps I should say I'm addicted to movies. My life's dream would be to write either a screenplay or a novel that would end up being adapted into a film. (I am, also, painfully aware of the odds of that actually occurring.)

My favorite authors are Michael Crichton, Agatha Christie, and the team behind the Left Behind series: Jerry B. Jenkins and Tim LaHaye.

Brian - You say your 'focus is usually on the emotional battle within' so I highly recommend you study Faulkner. Read his Nobel acceptance speech and you will understand why I say that.
