Smile Young Mom that writes dark fiction and poetry

Hello everyone. My name is Rachel and I am a mom to two children, ages 5 and 2. I am a freelance writer and an aspiring author/poet. I have one poem published in an anthology and I am hoping to finally accomplish my next feat which is finishing my draft on my first novel.
I have always loved dark fiction mainly because I can relate a lot of the turmoil the characters go through. I have suffered from depression and have ADD. Also, I used to have a problem with self-injury so I use many of my personal experiences to develop the traits of my main characters.

Anyway enough of me talking... I would like to get to know some of the writers here. Being a writer in the small town I live in, I'm considered the "anti-social freak" down the road. The journey of a writer tends to be lonely at times.

I can see how that could make somebody dark and anti-social.

Welcome to WF, hope you like the company

Also where we live we don't know anyone. Everyone that we know live 30 miles away from us minimum.

I have people living closer. They just can't read. Thank God for the internet.
    Or Al Gore or whoever.

Welcome aboard. I'm the only aspiring writer I know in real life, too. It is a pretty solitary thing.
Let's see if my above post is deleted without explanation. Wouldn't be the first time.

Hello, Rachel and welcome to Writing Forums

I also enjoy the dark-side when reading and writing.

I love the internet it's one of my only means of communication with the outside world besides snail mail. I don't like to talk on the phone.

@ caelum: It is solitary but to me I like it sometimes because I don't have very many distractions but it would be nice to know other aspiring writers for networking purposes.

@ Gumby: Hi. I do plan on sticking around. I found out about this forum through the Writer's Digest forum yesterday so I thought I would join in.

@ Nickie: Thank you for welcoming me.

@ ash somers: I have always loved the dark-side of writing. I started reading Edgar Allen Poe's work when I was 12. I was kind of anti-social back then. All I did was read, write poetry, go to school. Also I was always a part of the gothic group at school. Only kids I would get along with and would accept me for my weirdness. I guess that is why I have a hard time making friends outside of the computer. The small town I live in is one of those really religious southern baptist towns so we're considered outcasts.

@fantasy of you: I know Lin is crazy but sometimes you have to do that to keep your insanity (unless he is literally insane) lol.... Thanks for the welcome. I try to be as happy as a person on anti-depressants can be.
