Hi, my name is Xiaosui and I wanted to introduce myself and my new writing competition.
I write for my website, Kaixin
It it becoming quite popular and my husband suggested we introduce a writing cometition to generate fresh perspectives on China.
First, a little about myself from the site bio:
My name is Zhou Xiaosui B.Fin and I lived in China for over 40 years before moving to Australia in 2007. I have had over 10 years teaching experience and over 6 years business experience which included setting up and running my own school.
Xiaosui brings her lifelong experience of China and her unique experiences growing up in China. First, during the Cultural Revolution and then as the dragon stirred to take its place in the world. She also brings a love of teaching, a love of history and culture, which she first learned at her father's knee, and a love of life.
And a little about the writing competition:
The Kaixin Writing Competition hopes to foster more awareness of China, its culture, history, politics, people, stories, fables,traditions, its place in the world. That is not being achieved by the mainstream press.
Kaixin also wanted to give an on-going platform for writers to hone their skills and have chance to be published on an increasingly popular site. We hope that over time the winning entries will be actively read as a source of information on China.
TOPIC: China - As long as there is a connection with China, you can choose any topic and any approach you like. We want to encourage as wide a range of topics as possible.
Prize: $250 for the winning entry which will be published in Kaixin
Word Limit: 1,500 words (1,000 minimum) We are interested in the quality of the writing, the originality of the ideas presented and the ability to structure your article. A well written 1,001 word article will be as likely to win as a 1,500 word article.
Language: English
Style: It can be fiction or non-fiction, it can be a personal experience or a researched article. Do what you do best.
Entry: $10

The September Writing Competition closes at midnight Australian Eastern Standard Time on the 30th September 2008. The winner will be announced by the end of October 2008 by publication on Kaixin.
The competition is held every two months.
