Free Money
So, the U.S. Goverment sent me a check today. I haven't ever filed my taxes. (i'm 19, and just forget every year, I'm cheating myself out of money, spare the scolding). I guess I would have to say my week is going pretty damn good.

Is it that rebate thing? Six hundred bucks or something? I'm not sure why, but apparently I don't qualify.

Well, from what I know, you have to have filed your taxes last year to qualify. They also have a whole bunch of other criteria that they never really covered when discussing it. But this was an odd number, as if I had filed. It was like $357.63 or something like that.

Did your parents file for you, or claim you as a dependant? If so, you didn't need to file, and that's why you got it without ever having filled out taxes. However, if they didn't file you as a dependant, the IRS is eventually going to catch up to that and you're gonna be forced to back file, which is a pain in the ass.

Well honestly, I am withholding at all my jobs, so I don't know if it would be in the IRS' interest to force me to file, since they owe me money. But I will have to investigate whether either of my parents filed for me.

WTG IRS! A few years ago they double deposited my refund into my checking account. That was a huge clusterf*ck to fix. I would so not spend that check...

I got free monies too! Only $300 cause I worked part-time all last year. It all depends on how much you made as to how much you get.

I don't work, and the rebate form I got (nothing to do with taxes, some kind of Bush economic stimulus) asked for previous employment in the last year.

I got so excited when I got that letter too. I reread it half a dozen times trying to figure out how I could get around the requirements. Six hundred bucks or whatever would be a nice little boost right about now.

LOL I didn't get the letter till like yesterday. I've had the free monies for a couple weeks now. Direct deposit is a wonderful thing.
But all I got was $300. The bf got $600; he works full-time.
