That was interesting and enjoyable to read. I love hearing and learning about "Russian" culture. That's a language I've always wanted to learn. Your life certainly is interesting, between the eco-friendly youth to the Kiev adulthood. I'm kind of jealous. I'm a foodie, so I'd love to come over there and just eat everything up. Working in a Russian circus sounds crazy cool.

Very nice to hear Hawke, thank you. I'm glad you enjoyed reading about it, because I always worry that other people won't find it as interesting as I hope they will.

Hey Lin. I'm glad you showed up, because it was partly your email that motivated me to write this. Thanks for reading

Hey there, you're the first person who's not part of the usual crowd that reads my stuff so welcome and thank you

Russian is the hardest language I've ever tried learning and I've pretty much given up. I'm a lazy bugger and speak English most of the time.
And yes, my life is pretty interesting, but not all the time. I've been living in Kiev for almost four years in complete social isolation. My life is all about training which doesn't leave much time for making friends, so the result has been that my husband and I live in each others pockets 24 hours a day. We never know when the next job is coming, so it's a real hand to mouth existence, and I really miss my family in Oz. I'll also tell you, that there is absolutely no romance in working in the circus in Russia. Thankfully I've only done it for a couple of really short stints, because it's a really hard life. No toilets, no running water, caravans with no windows that are boiling in summer and freezing in winter.............. Still, I've done some pretty crazy stuff in my life and wouldn't change a thing.

I just finished making a new act where I sing at the same time as hang around in the air. I'm petrified of singing in public so I'm going to work for a couple of weeks in a local circus in Kiev to get over the stage fright. I'll let you know how it goes

Thanks again for your comments Malone

Joanna, do you have any of your acts on you tube or anything? It would be really neat to see one of your routines.

Geez, I'm scared enough of singing in front of people but hanging upside down at the same time...I don't know if that's better or worse.

Hey Foxee! Go to www.fine-lines.freeweb7.com
You can see all our acts there, but the videos are a bit old, the acts look quite different now, but you'll get an idea of what we do.

Vlad and I made a couple of new websites actually. Check out
the Circus Guide. I wrote all the text for it including a couple of articles about recent jobs I've done, and an interview, where I interviewed myself and Vlad I'm the only contributing writer for the site at the moment, but I keep trying to get other artists to send in their stories. Unfortunately, most circus people don't spend much time writing. From the central website you can look at Circus Videos
which is a 'Youtube-like' facility just for circus, and the Circus Guide Agency

The server can't be found?

I've seen examples before and it's nice, Joanna. You have a LOT more nerve than I do. I'm afraid of heights!
