My week? its not been so great...

Its barely hump day and mine just made a u-turn toward lousy.

I think those of you that made my time here enjoyable know who you are, I'm especially thankful to those who picked me up when I was down, offered advice on both poetry and life.

Clearly I don't have nearly a thick enough skin to survive here without being provoked, despite my best efforts. I don't like that I'm letting it turn me into a grumpy, mean, nasty, dramatic and not fun person to be around. Despite the fact that this site has given me the best feedback for my writing (for free even) I think everyone will be happier in the long run if I take a break and most likely leave.

Anyone who ever complimented, constructively criticized or encouraged my poetry is some kind of super-patient person who deserves poetry-critting sainthood. I will miss that so much. I learned so much from those people in such a short time and NONE of them gave me any grief. =( I won't try to name them in case I miss one. I can't explain how much that means to me, having the mental deficits I do. May you all get published in the way that means the most to you.

Code--thanks for showing me this place, i have no regrets. Keep on writing cause you're so damn good at it.

I hope most of you don't hold grudges. I won't. Also, may your weeks be better than mine has been.

edit: lin, i'll miss your comments for their shock value, i even learned from you...enjoy those islands!

hugsickles,
Paper Tears

Sorry to hear about this, PT.

If it's what you consider best for you, cool, but if it's about what you think other people would prefer - it's obvious others have put a value on the place you have made here.

I apologise if this offends you, or if I'm off base with this, but if I were to be completely honest I'd suggest that maybe your introspection prevents you from seeing how superficial some of the responses that provoke you are - withdrawing might not be the best solution to that.

Hope to see you come back.

I understand your discouragement, especially lately, Papertears. Leave your account intact, though. It's a breadcrumb trail back to us if nothing else and we like having you here.

Sorry that you feel like you should leave. I hope you decide to stay. You just have to learn to ignore those people who frustrate you and just laugh about it. Some people are crazy, some people are stupid, and some people just generally suck. But you can't let them bring you down. Ignore them, laugh at them, do whatever, but don't let them anger you. Don't let them ruin the positives of this site.

Hope everything works out well.

I'm sorry your week's been lousy, PT. Of course I hope you decide to stay, but if you don't, then good luck to you!

Come on, PT, don't leave. The place wouldn't be the same without you. Don't let some obnoxious d**ks get you down. You know they're just trying to boost their ego at your expense, don't you? To hell with them. I think you've made a good impression here, and to leave now because of something like that would make those people victors. You don't want that. Ignore the jackasses. They usually shut up if you pay no heed to them. If that doesn't work, PM a moderator about them, or report the thread.

And please stay.

Sam.

Paper Tears,

I know I haven't seen you around much on this forum but I can really identify with your situation. Sometimes it is easy for people, writers especially, to think that it is their way or no way and the comments resulting from that can make this experience really uncomfortable. I know, I took a 2 week hiatus and only returned today because of someone insulting my advice, as if it is no good.

I wish you all the best in your endevours and it seems like a lot of people here do too. Take some strength from us, and use it to do something you fear then write about it. I feel stronger now I know that others feel the same, and I hope we all look critically at our replies and consider the impact of the person who is looking forward to reading them.

Reach for the stars! Come back when you're ready.

dhyre
