it is on topic, because some people think nice guys are creepy, I'n tired of being thought of as creepy. I dont stalk girls or anything, I just freakin hold doors open for them, and I'm helpful, but I'm helpful to everyone.

Stop being so helpful and stop holding doors open. I want to shoot people who hold doors for me. Again, there's a such thing as too nice -- which could be construed as "creepy."

it should only be creepy if there's intent behind it, and there isnt. It isnt like I hold doors open for people a mile away, I just do it as a helpful gesture for someone right behind me,typically its just passed on to them anyway because I dont want to be in their way. I cant help it if I want to help someone, should I just ignore them because it might be construed as creepy? thats a judgment problem on their part...

My ex was considered creepy by many, not because he was too nice (which he sort of was), but because he oozed a certain desperation to be liked.

And Hodge, holding doors open is polite.

I dont know if I ooze that, I honestly dont know why I seem creepy to people. I figured it was how I looked, but I just know, its kind of depressing, and doesnt help the confidence any. Perhaps its my lack of confidence that does it, would that make it self perpetuating?

If you are not confident in yourself, no one else is going to be confident in you. But remember, just because you are well-liked, that doesnt make you a good person.

never said that was true, but I certainly don't like the creepy image that I've always been tagged with.

right, but I'm talking about in real life. And people making value judgments upon seeing a person irl, most people don't know me, nor do they seem to want to. Which would be fine by me except I need someone to talk to besides myself.

Lack of confidence can make someone come across as untrustworthy, and, therefore, creepy. There seems to be a correlation between confidence and honesty in many people's minds (if someone is secure in what they're saying, they can't be lying, can they?). I would definitely say, a lack of confidence is self-perpetuating; think about it: if you lack confidence, people don't particularly like you, then you lack more confidence because people don't particularly like you.

If a girl doesn't have a job its cool, but if a guy doesn't have a job its a bad thing. He's a waste of space, no good for you. He's a bum. I don't get that. And as for 'nice' guys. I don't really know what a nice guy is. I don't try to hurt or offend people, but then again I won't open a door for anyone, although i'd hold a door open(theres a difference). I don't try to fit people into these categories. I just see people who i'd like to know and people I wouldn't. Thamior if you wanna help someone thats cool, but remember that we aren't babies, some people just wanna do things for themself. And there is a vital ingredient in relationships called PERSONAL SPACE.

You shouldn't go out of your way to please others. I've learned that no matter what I do I can't please anyone. I just have to be myself and dudes gotta accept thats how I roll. Like it or leave it. Maybe you just need to swallow your gut and try to meet a new group of people who have no previous judgements placed on you.
