I hope this isn't in response to what I wrote, because if it is, then you didn't read my post at all, just sort of glanced at it.

most people that dont want help are fairly good at expressing that desire, and if someone says as such I'm not going to do what they would have me not do.

Holding it open as you go through it first is fine... Standing by like a doorman is irritating.

that is what I mean, I only end up being a doorman in awkward situations, ideally I go through, and hold it open for the next person that may be a couple strides behind me, enough so that if I dont hold it open its almostt shut, but if Ido I'm only waiting a breif time and then transfering it to them, getting out of their way.

Read it again Intel. But, in the interest of clarity,

a) I wouldn't have dated a jobless man if I though his being jobless made him a bum

and

b) I explained what it was that was unattractive about dating him and made sure to explain that said characteristic is unattractive "in any human being."

Stop reading with assumptions at the fore.

Going back to the topic. I heard from a woman that women are strongly attracted to power. I'm not quite sure what that means, such as being the alpha in your groups of friends or the owner of a business or something. It's far too complicated guessing if someone is interested in you, you get so many mixed messages from girls and you're not sure if they are just being really nice or there are hidden intentions. Like men ofcourse.

I think thats why people like dogs so much. They instantly love you just for being you. Behind their love there is no other agenda. They don't want your money, they don't want to marry you. They just offer their unconditional love. Maybe relationships would be a lot easier if we took a leaf out of a dogs book.

well, on the condition that you feed them and pay attention to the m on a regular basis.

Have you seen an abused dog? They become fearful of their masters, but whenever their masters even show a bit of compassion towards the dog, they are ready to forgive. And all creatures need a source of food to exist so that doesn't count. And they only want attention as you took them out of the wild, they have little else to do apart from play with/entertain you.

true, for the most part, but there is still a condition there. Actually most people love their pets for certain subconcious reasons too. I forget the name of the effect, but essentially the wide-eyed look and other "babyish" features of many domestic pets gives owners a sense that they in effect have a baby to take care of, which turns on maternal and paternal instincts. Its actually quite facinating, I have a cat at home myself, and I do love her to death.

Well, there is still no condition. Just because you defend yourself from someone doesn't mean you lose love for them. If your mum came at you with a knife ready to stab you in the chest and you knocked her out with a telephone, does that mean you love her any less? Not neccecarily. Because above the love for anyone else is the love of self. Keeping yourself alive in order to love another day as it were. Also I hate cats. They're so unloyal. It sounds facinating about the parent role. Thats probably why i'd never have a pet. I don't wanna be obligated to take care of someone else. But if that is your passion then go for it.
