    Sickness and Weakness

At least I'm in good company. Most of my co-workers have this same bug. Headache, nasal drip etc. No one calls in sick because:
    1) No one wants to screw-over their co-workers with extra work,
    2) We all need the money,
    3) The Company is already weak and needs the money,
    4) And no one wants to look like the weak branch that needs trimming for next lay-offs.
Fair? No. Yet, Seattle just enacted this ludicrous law forcing small businesses (like the one I work for) to provide sick time off. We already have it, and most of us don't use it. Friggin' genius politicians. Howabout some free Cold-Eze and Germ-X, if you want to be useful or relevant. Or better yet, stay out of business matters completely, ya putz'. You're really helpful.

I've muddled through work, but now I find that I lack the focus to write effectively. My head is clearing slowly, but it seems like I can't assemble cogent though (i.e, this rambling rant). So another week with no progress on my next manuscript.

Oh, and my Dad tells me that my sister fell off the wagon again. Se went back to rehab in Oregon. Like that empty bottle of Curevo I saw in her trash last week wasn't a clue. What should I have said: "Gee sis, looks like you're hitting the sauce again. Ya think that's a good idea?" She only has like 15% use left on her kidneys. Oh well, maybe she secretly longs for getting hooked-up to a dialysis machine.
Now, I get to call my sisters and update them. The sad thing is, they won't be surprised.

And the cherry on the manure sundae: My route to work has been closed and re-routed. I'll have to get up an hour earlier every day this week, and God knows when I'll get home from the detour.

I'm tired. In so many ways, deeply tired.

Man. I hope it's only flu. I had a similar set of circumstances earlier this year, and tried to work through it. It became pneumonia and got complicated from there. If I were a praying man, I'd pray that yours is a less pernicious bug.
The other stuff is no fun either. Not much help, but you have my sympathies.

I wish the small business I work for had offer paid sick time, but it doesn't so I have to show up to work no matter how I feel. Of course the production staff can easily take time off when they feel under the weather because they can stay after hours and work on projects or come in on the weekends. I'm merely the secretary and barely have any work during normal business hours, so there's not much I could do to make up any time I take off.

Thanks guys. It was only a low-grade "annoying" virus. Just on top of everything else... eh. Getting better.

It's the other stuff. I already normally commute an hour and a half a day. It was 45 minutes longer today, and will be for the rest of the week.
Mayor McCheese (McGinn) wastes money on bike projects and billion dollar light rail fiascoes while slobs like me stare at brake lights. Yeah, if I could carry thousands of pounds of equipment on my Schwinn or the bus, the world would be peachy-keen.

And my sister? For those that pray, she could use some. It feels like c#*p, not being able to help her. I even feel mad at her for the stress she's putting our family through. I know she can't help it.

Well, I have a job, a family and and the problems that go with them. I should appreciate both while I still have them. Mixed blessings.

Feel better, man. And wishing the best for your sister. Addictions can really get a hold on people.
Let's see if my above post is deleted without explanation. Wouldn't be the first time.
