    lots of waiting

Waiting room time moves quite slowly
For patients, the humble and lowly
    Doctors all hurry
    The nurses scurry,
But waiting room time moves quite slowly.

I have had hospital appointments four days out of five this week. Monday and wednesday I had prednisolone infusions (steroid) of 1/2 a gram at a time. That kept me awake all monday night and all but a couple of hours wednesday. Today I switched to the new drug, cyclophosphamide. It makes you tired and your hair falls out (what's new about that? My hair is falling out anyway) but at least I should get some kip. I get six of these, one a fortnight. A much more bearable schedule, and by the end my immune system should be behaving itself again. Yippee!

I hope for all the best Olly. Is there anything you can't drink or eat while your taking the meds?

No, but I have to drink lots so it doesn't sit in my bladder, it is inclined to give you bladder cancer.

Olly, hope you tolerate it okay and get through the treatment with success. I've taken large doses of prednisone along with those awful chemical injections for auto-immune disease, and it's not pleasant. But it was effective. Hope you can say the same.

I understand, having had my appointments this morning. Doctors and hospitals travel in their own crepe-soled time zone and you have to move with them because they won't make way for you.
Sorry as hell that you're going through this, Olly. Wouldn't do a bit of good to have me pray but I hope for the best.

Like your poem Olly. Hoping this is almost the last of this torture. I better like to imagine you in your garden, or having tea in your kitchen, than miserable trips to the hospital. Sometimes intervention is necessary though, dang it.
