    Creative Writing

So college has started. It's a lot of fun, and surprisingly way easier than highschool. The work is easy, it's just a lot to do on a daily basis. Teachers are cool, people are nice but they're always too busy or rushing to get somewhere. No one really has time to just sit and chat.

I signed up for creative writing, of course. It's a really fun class. The professor is a funny dude. He's pretty outspoken. He says stuff I would never expect a teacher to say. He mentions sex quite a bit, lol. Needless to say, the class is really fun.

Yesterday he said, "I'm the kind of teacher that really, really likes to push people out of their comfort zones. So...just be prepared for things I'm going to ask you to write about."

O.O I think he's going to make us write a sex scene or something related.

Wow..I am surprised these kind of topics are allowed in an educational institution.
I am glad I am not amongst Dreamworx as I will have real trouble with it/with him.
What do the rest of the class think?

It's not a big deal. He hasn't asked us to write anything over the top yet. We had to do a short writing assignment today, based on Hemingway's For sale: Baby shoes. Never worn.

I had to do something based on that for a creative writing course too. When I sat down to do it, I thought I had to include that phrase or at least the words, somewhere in the peice, turns out I didn't. made things a bit easier!

I'd say it'd be more a case of writing dialogue, or if you generally write horror, he'll try to get you to write romance (not sex, just general romance) and vice versa.

Speaking as a man, I would be wary of a teacher who felt the need to be so overt about sex...

My poly sci professor is like that-- he did a segment on the porn star La Cicciolina when we were discussing government elections. The guy is probably harmless. However, if he does something that makes you uncomfortable, obviously you should report it to someone.

Well, you can't shelter students completely, you'll just hurt them once they get into the real world.
    I'm a turkey!

I'm also a Mentor. What does that mean? It means if you have any questions, all you have to do is ask me. My job is to help you feel comfortable here. (The mods' job is to take away cookies as punishment. Twisted fiends.)

Speaking as a man I wouldn't be to worried so long as it wasn't gay sex. Actually, thinking about it that wouldn't worry me either, "just say no".

I see what you mean really, but I doubt it is actually to worry for if he vocalises it.

Nacian. That topic is compulsory in education, you have to make a special request if you don't want a child to receive sex education. Seriously, he might learn a lot more about his pupils asking them to write on something like that than something like "Snow", and this isn't high school any more, a lot of places these people are adults who can vote, or kill for their country.

Glad to hear it is going well Dreamworks, the learning is ten times more if you enjoy it.

I had to teach a bunch of teenagers at one point and although some of them were quite conservative, I brought real-world discussions about sex, politics, drug use, drinking and religion into the classroom just as a way to get them to do their homework.

Maybe your teacher also realises that the best way to get a class to act like adults it to treat you as such. You're all way beyond the age and intellectual capacity for a subject like 'My Favourite Food' to still grasp you attention.

I haven't met the guy, of course, just trying to stand up for teachers with unconventional subject matter!

    I am surprised Olly.
What's wrong with gay sex? I thought sex is sex..still I would not be happy for any of my kids to learn or write about sex .
There are other more radiant things to write about.
Sexuality is something I consider private rather then public.

I think you mean sex not sexuality. Whatever, with the passing of time, change is inevitable. Mark my words, before the decade is over, there'll be public bonking. If you don't like the heat, keep out of the kitchen.
