    Family -get-together's--NOT a good idea?

There are seven of us adult children-ranging from age 63 to 39--and lots of nieces and nephews--a lot of us! But since Mom and Dad has passed away--it seems like it is hard to get every one together. Some are always late--dinner has already started--the late comers are offended that dinner was not waited on them. Some of "The young ones "are rude and disruptive. The parents let them do things at my house -that they would not allow at their own home. And that just the kids. My brothers have a problem with each other and can't leave it at the door. They turn family dinners into a pissing contest. Maybe it is time to let go...I think this horrible behavior is dishonoring my Mom and Dad's memory.I long for the "good old days" when we could not wait to get together ...sit and eat--laugh and talk---long into the night. Now I cook for days---and some are a no show---while others eat and run. I miss my Mom and Dad. Do you have family problems after loosing your Parents---Is this "normal" ??Peace...Jul

I'm afraid so. My family got so bad I had to stop going to see them as much...Everything with them is so negative and someone is always bickering with someone else. I finally had to tell them that if they didn't have anything nice to say about each other not to call me...and if they did I would call that person myself to tell them exactly what was said about them and by whom.

    It seemed to work.

My gran's family seemed to fall apart in so many ways when my great grandmother died. They're permanently falling in and out with each other when they used to be a close family unit.
