A very old friend has been over from Australia and running round on such a tight schedule that I thought I might not catch up with her. She spent Glastonbury with another old friend who runs “Tea ladies on tour”,

that’s her stirring and dunking. After Glastonbury they were going off together to Marrakesh with another friend then flying to Switzerland and France to visit.

So Saturday morning I caught the eight o’clock bus out of the village, the train from St Leonard’s to Gatwick and then flew to Marrakesh for a long weekend where the four of us shared an apartment and went off round the town creating general chaos.

“No, no you follow me, square this way, follow me, come, come this way square, follow me. What, you don’t want the square? Okay, you pay me I go away”.

Does not seem to be a normal tourist response to hustlers, some of the more respectable Moroccans found it very funny.

We walked the souks, visited beautiful gardens, ate in Moroccan worker’s cafe’s, bought melons, oranges, dates and other fruit, watched tourists, and told them they were in the square, and chatted and chatted catching up on children and mutual friends.

Then yesterday I flew back, caught a train to St Leonards and got the afternoon bus back to the village
