On Thursday, I put my car in the shop because it had some issues. It was under warranty. I didn't get the car back until Tuesday (warranty adjuster dragged things out). The garage provided a free (but crappy) rental until I got my car back.

This morning, the garage called because they lost their contact information on the warranty service. After I gave them the information, I looked the warranty over carefully. I realized that I had now broken even on what I had paid into the warranty.

My car was nine months old when I bought it. Prior owner had an accident-right front fender, and had just let it go.

So, the moral of the story is, that extended warranties on cars are a good idea.
