    What is Going On ?

I have two phones-a cell phone and a land line for my computer . About six months ago, I changed numbers on my landline (someone was harassing me). The change has set forth an era of strangeness.

The first thing was that I found out that was the numbers was owned by a neighbor, who had a bunch of bill collectors looking for her. After I set them straight, I had about a month of quiet, then, it started.

Not a month goes by that some collection company isn't calling me-looking for someone, anyone. A few weeks ago, several medical staffing companies were calling me. Several people, supposedly registered nurses, left them my number as their contact number. If you're seeking a 35.00 an hour job, why in the world would you give them a false contact number ?
They call me Spooky, Spooky Mulder. A joke to my peers and an annoyance to my superiors. Whose sister was abducated by aliens when he was a kid, and now runs around with a badge and gun yelling to anyone who is listening that the fix is in and when it hits, it'll be the crapstorm of all time.

So that they wouldn't have to deal with all the calls that they uselessly. Maybe they didn't like you so they gave your number to them as a joke? (that does happen a lot)

Hahahaha. If you can't see how and why that happened, there's no hope for you at all.

For about a year while my son was in high school we had the misfortune of having a number that had belonged to a family that had run up debts all over town. The first few times someone called I explained that I wasn't the person they were looking for. Most of them didn't believe me and would call back. So I took a new tack. 'So sue me,' I'd say. 'Take me to court. I'm not paying you a penny.' In a short time the calls stopped.
