Thread: Vacation!

As some of you may know, we here in The Philippines celebrate Holy Week, which is pretty much our Easter. Beginning Maundy Thursday, up until Easter Sunday, it's all a holiday, a legal one, yes.

Having said that, our family decided to go on a vacation! Three days and two nights of doing nothing but savor the cold breeze of the mountains of Tagaytay and the beaches of Batangas.

This is going to be fun!

That sounds great. I could really -- really use a vacation about now. I have plenty of vacation time -- things are just too busy to use it. Hope you have fun!

I dated a girl from the Philippines when I was younger and went to her hometown of Dumaguete for three weeks. It's near Cebu in the Negros Oriental. At the end of our trip, we had some extra money and decided to go to Borocay. What an awesome island. I went snorkeling - my first time doing it in the ocean, since I grew up in the Midwest of the United States - and I remember being down there 12 feet underwater exploring the corals and sand at the bottom. I saw this really shiny rock and thought, "wow, that rock is shiny!" and reached to grab it. As soon as my finger touched it, the rock transformed into a turtle and shot out at a speed that made me inhale a whole lot of water.

I also remember lying on the beach and hearing about the reports of the US missionaries who had been caught and subsequently killed when the Philippine military invaded the camp. I think that was in 2001?

Yay for your vacation, that sounds lovely!
We, on the other hand are going to spend our next vacation spring cleaning...ugh.
But the next one will be somewhere else, like Mexico, with any luck and some savings.
