    This is a difficult day

Today is my Mom's birthday. It has been 5 years since her passing and yet I still wake up in tears on this day.

Happy birthday Mom. I love you and miss you every day.

I am of an age where almost all my generation have lost their mother (I do have one friend whose mother is 102). We all only get one mother, and, even for those who fought tooth and nail with her while she was alive, her passing is always a sad loss. I think you have everybody's sympathy.

I'm sorry to hear of your pain Jinxi. Because your mom would want you to, go do something fun today.

I dreaded the day of my daughter's death for years. It tore me up also. Then one day years later, I opened the log at work and recorded the date. I realized that the day had approached without the normal pain and apprehension. Time will heal this, we all deal with it in our own way.

Loosing a family member, especially a close one like a mother is hard.

Thank you so much everyone. It turned out to be a wonderful day. My man took me to her favourite restaurant for dinner and we had a bottle of champagne to celebrate her special day. It was the best celebration I have had in a very long time.

Although it's still very hard, I've found that over time, anniversaries like this become less about grieving and more about remembering and celebrating a person's life. It sounds like you really made the best of it.

My condolences for this sad day. Make the best of what you have and but don't forget what you don't have. (can't remember who said this)
