    Are You Listening ?

For several months now, there's been 24 hours of Supervisor shift time open over the weekend. I've been among those dividing it up by 6 hour segments so that everyone gets a shot and doesn't burn themself out. Actually, I'm growing tired of 6 day weeks and I look forward to the final training date of a Supervisor now in training.

So, lately, one of the Supervisors, a 28 year old guy, has been snatching up 18 hours of it. Last weekend, he wanted to reneg on 6 hours of it and wanted me to take an all nighter. I refused, explaining that I go to church. Just a little bit ago, he tried to take a field assignment and dump all of Sunday night on me again. Again I had to explain about church.

I know that 18 to 30 year olds duck church because they feel invinceable and bullet proof. I just weary of their attitude.
They call me Spooky, Spooky Mulder. A joke to my peers and an annoyance to my superiors. Whose sister was abducated by aliens when he was a kid, and now runs around with a badge and gun yelling to anyone who is listening that the fix is in and when it hits, it'll be the crapstorm of all time.

Well, they think that's a hard and fast way to promotion or something.

Come to think of it, Americans are said to be workaholics, so I guess the stereotype fits. No offense meant, by the way.

No Offense. I put in about ten hours a week at church, plus 46 at work, and I have a website that I'm doing publicity for all the time. Add in the hours together = 60 hours a week-give/take. This guy isn't bucking for promotion-he's marking time until he gets an ASE certification so that he can get $$$$ as a mechanic. He's got a toddler and an infant (they're expensive). It's just his "I think like a ten year old-why can't you ?" attitude.

More good reasons why I'm glad I never looked for a job. I can sympathise, but I can't empathise, never having had a salaried job of any sort. Is it really worth the trouble?
