    Olly's week

I am worn out, mind you it does not take much to wear me out nowadays. Last Saturday our friends from Australia turned up and have been staying most of the week having been on a tour of Florence, Rome etc.
It was wonderful to see them, we started off sharing a flat in Earls Court forty plus years ago and have lived together or worked together on an off ever since, so although they went back home years ago and haven’t visited for a couple of years it was no time at all before it seemed as though there had hardly been a break.
The garden came into full production at about the same time, so we have been having great meals with salad stuff and vegetables fresh from the garden, I have even had the occasional glass of wine which I usually deny myself because it does not mix well with my medication. The down side is that I have been sitting up late chatting and playing Mahjong, so the Wegener’s is all a bit active and I have been getting headaches, double vision and numb feet, but a few days of lying in and regular hours should cope with that.
The other thing to happen was that I was chatting to a friend who writes magazine articles to supplement her pension, I said I really should try and sell some of my stuff, but hadn’t got the energy, “What I need is an agent”. Her reply was that she would do it for me, so we negotiated terms and I have been going over some of my old work and putting it in a presentable order, there is an awful lot of it I realise, and who knows things might take off, though I shan’t be holding my breath.

'Sfunny, I was only saying to 'er indoors yesterday that I hadn't seen you around and she said, "He might be sick." Bloody women. They know everything.

You know, you can buy a CD for peanuts with thousands of Mah-Jongg games on it.

Good luck with the mag articles. Sounds a great idea, having a helper like that. You might need a second assistant, to go down the shed and start putting all your stuff in order.

That's so funny Olly. My Dad and his wife are over there right now, and I remember when Dad told me he was going over I thought "Curses! I want to go over and visit...." and no one came to mind at first, then I thought of you. Haha. So when I read that I thought "Could it be? Does Dad know Olly?"

    Haha.

Sorry to hear you've been under the weather, sounds like you've had a good time though. And that's excellent news about the agent-type. I have my fingers crossed for you that something comes of it.

I like that word 'work'. Bearing in mind that you can't take it with you, would it perhaps be time to start considering a fairly heavy pruning operation? I'm assuming this 'awful lot' is all on paper not computer. Maybe if you simply got rid of 75% of it....

It's on computer, I have been going through it editing, quite a lot is early stuff that is not that well written but has some good ideas. Then I have been printing out what looks presentable and compiling a portfolio.

Half your luck that you have a mind that soaks up ideas. Mine absorbs next to nothing. And my writing suffers as a consequence.

Not true, it simply absorbs different things, I am sometimes amazed at your power of recall, bet you can make a perfect mental image of Jayne Mansfield, I sort of think she was brunette.

Without googling, I say platinum blonde. Let's see....

    Yep.

Thing is, being able to recall this type of stuff isn't much use in the world of litrachoor.

I'm really envying you your fresh veggies. Too bad I am far too lazy to do a garden.
It's good to see friends eh? I just had a very old friend leave to travel after being here for a month. I miss her already.

But does anyone know what the time will be in Korea when her flight lands?

That is not the question, someone knows, the question is "Who?".

My beloved internet knows. But she is travelling in the U.S. now and is probably still on my time.
