    My son has scarlet fever

I didn't think people got this anymore. Poor boy gets strep, his glands/nodes are the size of golf balls. Did I mention he's only 7? He's so sick and miserable. Total liquid diet. Then on top of all that he gets an itchy rash. He's already so skinny, it makes me nervous when he gets sick like this. He doesn't have any weight to lose.

I haven't slept more than two hours at a time for the past two nights.

Oh, Kat! That sucks. And as a mother, I understand your concerns...it is absolutely torture to watch your babies be in so much misery. I hope he starts feeling better soon. Strep is the worst. Hang in there and sleep when you can...I know it's hard, but you need to be rested for him. You and the little one are in my thoughts today.

    I'm sorry, that's horrible.
I'm sure he'll be fine, just hang in there and try to get some sleep.

Aww, Kat, that blows. My little sister had scarlet fever a few years ago and I remember it was awful. Best wishes for his speedy recovery.

Sorry to hear that, Kat. There aren't many things as stressful as having a sick child.

And yeah, scarlet fever just sounds positivity archaic -- like the dropsy or consumption or vapors or something like that -- I didn't know it was still around either.

Hope the little guy feels better soon.

He's feeling slightly better. He told me he was hungry earlier. He gets lots of fruitsicles and ice cream. The cold felt good on his throat.

I'm not sleeping because he's talking in his sleep. He slept 7 hours straight last night. I kept waking up because he was talking and I thought he was calling for me.

Last night before I finally passed out I heard. "That's gross. It's all squished, it's really squished." lol If I wasn't so tired I'd be laughing more.

Heya Kat, hope the boy is doing alright now. I'm sure he enjoyed the ice cream if not the rest of it.

Let's see if my above post is deleted without explanation. Wouldn't be the first time.

Thanks. He's doing much better, just a lingering rash which can last up to 2 weeks. But he was able to go back to school in time for the last two days. He was so happy that he didn't miss field day.
