Had a performance at the CATALINA JAZZ CLUB, HOLLYWOOD, tonight.
Granted the school arranged the performance, and granted the crowd consisted mainly of parents of students, but I performed on the same stage as many of the great jazz legends of the age.
Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, Mike Stern, John Scofield, and so many others have performed on that very stage.
Tonight, I had the opportunity to play on that very stage.

Did you break out a traditional jazz grip for the occasion/venue? I would have been imagining myself as Buddy Rich and playing jazz grip even though I can't do much more than hold it down that way. Making a fool of myself basically.
Or do you normally use a jazz grip?
I play traditional all the time.
I wouldn't call it 'jazz grip' though. That's kind of the misconception most people have. You can play jazz with any grip, and you can use traditional grip to play anything.
But traditional certainly looks cooler.
