Major breakthrough

Here I was, sitting down at the computer, pecking away at another story that I want to sell for money (actually, I was throwing really small amounts of focus at the story while watching episodes of 'The Office' and cooking a chimichanga at the same time, but I was going through the motions as we sometimes must do in order to progress the story, right?), and then it hit me...

So I had all these thoughts and thoughts going on in the 'front' of my mind, you know, where you concentrate and focus and multi-task and get things done. In the back of my mind, in the subconcious or undermind, or the layers where thoughts seem to appear at random, are thoughts about important things - the 'worry worms' as I call them. It's like when you can't think of the name to that popular song that was just playing on the radio and so you throw it into the backburner section of your mind, much like you throw other worry worms, like the great boredoms and anxieties work forces upon you, or the direction your life is going, or thoughts about family, etc etc. This backburner section is an elusive hussy sometimes; maybe meditation or a couple of glasses of wine or accumulated stress will allow you a glimpse at what's churning underneath, thus: inspiration, ideas, a convergence in the brain...whatnot.

For more time than I can remember, I've been thinking of how I would like to write a story (not just another half-assed story, mind, but the story...you know, masterpiece material) that's been lurking in that backburner worry-worm corner of my brain. This thought is always there, and I feel like I've had this cloud between my eyes and my brain, this thin layer of fuzziness.

But tonight, tonight...I don't know what happened. I was flipping over my chimichanga to fry the other side of it, and I was staring at the can of green chiles and suddenly it was all apparent to me. It just dawned on me. I saw the whole story at once, and in what style to write it, and what point of view...the works. I hadn't even been thinking about the story idea, not for some time now. But there it was, all broken down and bundled up before me! I think I woke my roommate up, such an excited yell escaped my lips. What a breakthrough! What a fucking breakthrough! I haven't even started writing any part of this story yet, but I know how to write it now; it can only be written one way. I knew this, it being such an important story to me. And now I've found the cipher's key!

I probably won't be getting any sleep tonight. Just thought I'd memoralize this moment by writing excited and confused chatter on an on-line writing forum website...

Raising a cup of gritty coffee to you, mate.

Waiting for a light to go on in my own head...

Good luck with it.

*tries hard to dredge up witty remark about how story is to be titled “My life as a burger-flipper”, and fails*

Hmmm...I have had that, but it crashed harder than a hijacked airplane.

Oo lucky you, Mike! I'm so happy for you!

I've had several stories on my worm-burner for years and haven't been able to get them out as of yet.

I envy you

Well, I could try electro-shock therapy to get a good one out.
