Pretty terrible

10 days, not a week - but still. Right it started off with a weekend trip to Amsterdam with my older brother (who i don't get along with, but agreed to the trip for his 21st birthday). I thought 'seeing as its my first time here, he will take me around - show me some strip clubs and visit a few museums (including anne franks house)' how wrong i was, my brother is a proper stoner so i knew we would spend SOME time in the coffee shops, but it turned out to be the only place we went.

We got home and i put that behind me, knowing never to go on holiday with him ever again. I recently quit my job due to certain circumstances which made it impossible for me to continue working there. So i have been job hunting, along with going out with my brother-in-law selling frozen fish for a few quid to pay the rent. My mum was constantly on my back about getting a job, to which i replied 'But i haven't got a driving license/car' to which she would retort 'well get one'.

Naturally i pointed out that required money, which meant i needed a job. She retorted the same 'well get one'. My previous job was the only place where i live that you can work, bar pubs (which i've tried). I was in a vicious circle of needing transport to get a job, but needing a job to afford transport. Theres one bus a week that goes into town and doesn't come back. My family made it clear i wouldn't be getting lifts with them to work and back.

To make it worse, my mum then revealed how far in the shitter we were financially and that she had to double my rent. Naturally i have no money, so doubling the £100 ($200) i was already paying out of my savings would screw me to no end. Things got very heated at home when i refused point blank to continue helping her run her buisness (for free) and still be expected to find a job, get a car, pay for lessons/tests/tax and insurance. She started throwing shit at me (like she used to when i was a few years younger) so i just told her that if she continued to throw my stuff around i could quite easily throw it back at her (not that i would). She then made it clear i wasn't welcome in her house and that i had to leave.

I'm now waiting on my dad to see if theres room in the inn, else i'll be looking for a stable somewhere

wow, rough go. Hope it works out for you. Looks like it's time to become fully independent from your family. Good luck!

Lol, i wish. I'm asking my dad if i can stay at his until i get a full time job (he lives close to a trainstation). If i do get to stay with my old man i'd be able to work whatever shifts i want (night shifts pref) and then have the day to my self to write my novel/sleep.

Heres for hoping.

Gabriel - sorry to hear you are having a rough time of it. Honestly, its time to cut the strings mate. You'll be better off for it down the road.

I don't get anything from my parents bar the roof over my head (at a fair price). Of course i'd love to 'cut the strings' but financially it's impossible. Good news for me, my father agreed to let me stay with him for a bit, so i'm going to get a job then save cash. Perhaps i'll buy a cheap bike (moped or something) and rent a place eventually.

Lets see how it goes aye, thanks for the sympathy - i couldn't help but feel sorry for myself, compared to other peoples problems its nothing.

There's no use comparing your problems to other people's though. It never makes you feel any better to know there are starving children in Africa anyways.

Glad your dad got you a place to crash though. I've been in a similar situation, so I can imagine how it felt for you. Hope everything works out.
