My Addiction Takes A Turn

So I obviously have a very addictive personality, historically taken out through drugs and alcohol, but now that I'm off those, I'm finding myself becoming addicted to a computer game. I bought the game two months ago and haven't really written anything since. I play it pretty much all day. I started a team of other really good players and we compete in various leagues set up for the game. We're quite good and win almost every match we play. I've found that the bi-weekly games either mandate my mood. If we win, I'm happy and feel great, if we lose, I get so pissed off I can't barely stand to be alive. There's a professional league for the game that offers tens of thousands of dollars in prize money, and we're gearing up to enter that next season.

I think this is funny in a self-depricating way, so I thought I'd share it.

I have a very addictive personality too. As long as you stay good at the game, more power to ya. Especially if you win.

As long as your playing a manly shoot-em-up, you'll be fine. Game with dragons are so lame(apart from age of mythology, but can't remember if it had dragons).

Would it be too nosy of me to ask what game?
I'm always looking for awesome games to fill up my time.

A few years ago, I got addicted to a football game called Pro Evolution Soccer 6. I played it from one end of the week 'til the next. Never got any writing done. Then something happened. And that something was my father dropping a hammer on the Playstation 2 (by accident) and busting it. It was a month or two before I got another one, and by then I was back into my writing and not really interested in PES 6 any longer.

Maybe you should drop a hammer on your laptop, Malone? But then you still wouldn't get any writing done!

I can relate to the addictive qualities of that type of game, Malone. I have played several of them over the years and my current addiction is COD4 and the new beta of COD.

Great fun and a good way to unwind.

It's funny actually, my experience with Online gaming went the other way. Thanks to Runescape, I actually got into writing a lot more, and started learning the basics in the small designated forums for that sort of stuff. Then, I went searching for bigger sites and found this, which caused me to quit runescape as I realised I was spending more times on the forums than on the actual game, which, even though is a great game, has me wasting many hours doing the most pointless things.

I'm sure you'll be able to take something good out of this Malone, it might make you even more eager to write once, or if ever, this gaming phase passes.

Tom.

Well, if your addiction can be lucrative, go for it.

I would much rather see you play the game, Matt, then drink......maybe the game is a life-line for right now, sweetie.....
