I just can't think

My life has been so insanely busy this past month that I now find myself completely out of energy and motivation.

My brother in law got married earlier this month in Wisconsin. The hubby and I were both in the wedding, which was a blast! I really don't remember the last time I had so much fun. The entire week, while exhausting, was perfect. It reminded me how much I miss the Mid West and how far from being a California girl I will ever be.

After getting back to California I have been swamped with work. Yesterday, 2 weeks to the day that I have been back, I was finally caught up with everything at work. Sadly, my house is still in desperate need of attention.

I feel totally drained and it doesn't help that it is overcast and windy today. Side note: This is the first overcast day we have had since around April I don't want to do anything but day dream of the day I can move back to the Mid West and feel at home again. I have one hour of work left and have been able to pull off not working at all yet so far.

Anyone have inspirational words to get me in the mood to start kicking ass and taking names on the home side of my life?

And here I am trying to get out of the Midwest. To each his own.

Anyways, my butt gets kicked by work always and I am way behind on house work too...doesn't help that NaNoWriMo is right around the corner so I am on a completely different planet mentally.

A little step at a time, little here, a little there. It all helps in the great grand scheme of things.

I always wanted to leave Ohio when I was younger. But after being in several different states, there's just no place like home!

You are more than right about doing a little bit rather than nothing. I found myself wandering around the house for at least 20 minutes yesterday not really doing anything at all.

Inspirational words that make you wanna get in the mood to work? Do those even exist? "Get your ass in gear or you're fired!" Nah, that doesn't work, either.

How's about I just empathize with your desire to go home? I really know how that one feels, believe me. Is Cali just a temporary thing though or do you have to stay there until god only knows when?

So far I haven't found any =)

I moved out to Cali because I knew that my Dad was not well. He looked and acted as though he was fine, but I knew his heart wasn't in good shape. He died a year to the day that I moved out here. That was year and a half ago and I just can't be out here anymore. Up until this past trip it was a "until god knows when" situation. But now I have a plan in place to be back in Wisconsin in about year.

What's your situation? Any plans to get home?

Thirteen days and counting!

Here's hoping that year passes by quickly for you.

Nice! Where's home for you?

Strangely enough I am sure it will. It seems the older I get the quicker the years go by.

[Nerdism]You know, I know why that is! Well, partially. It's because our perception of time is related to our heart rate. Since kids have a high heart rate, time seems to take forever to pass with them. But as we get older, our rate slows down, which makes time feel like it goes by faster (unless you're at work waiting for the last hour to pass).[/Nerdism]

Sorry, couldn't resist. To answer your question, home for me is western PA. I'm sure after a few months, I'll be wanting to go somewhere else, but right now, I just wanna be 'home'. You know how it is, I'm sure.

For me home is SW Michigan. I've been living in northern Ohio for a couple of years now with my boyfriend, away from all of my friends and family. It feels nice when we go to my parents to visit, which is only about twice, sometimes three times a year. But we never stay for more than a few hours before we drive home. I miss it.

I love the nerdism! Fantastic.
I understand more than I'd like to. I always get antsy for something different, but when I am home it isn't nearly as bad.

You weren't too far away from my hometown, Toledo. Being so far away I'm cool with MI, OH, or WI. The only bad side to living in Michigan is all the Wolverine fans But they have awesome camp grounds there. Fremont is right by Cedar Point, right? That's an upside =)

Whenever I'm swamped and don't know where to start, I always make a list and prioritize it. Otherwise, I jump from one thing to the next without finishing anything.

I've been there and ate at a restaurant where they had hot dog buns signed by celebrities. Strange. They also eat chili on spaghetti around there.

A list is a fabulous idea. That's a common approach of mine that for some reason I have overlooked. Thanks Joseph =)

Why yes we do, put chili on spaghetti. At least we don't put perfectly good cornbread in buttermilk Hot dog buns signed by celebrities? Hmmmm. . .Maybe Tony Packos?

Oh, that's it -- Tony Packos

This is from their website:

"(Burt) Reynolds was the first big name to eat at Packo's and sign a hot dog bun. Nancy wanted him to write his name on something to commemorate his visit. It occurred to Reynolds to put his pen to Packo's breadstuff. This precedent was followed by scores of celebrities, including presidential candidates, whose autographed hot dog buns now are enshrined on Packo's walls. Thus the tradition of "bun signing" began, and has continued to this day."

Did you ever watch MASH? Jamie Farr, or the guy that always dressed as a chick, was from Toledo and frequently wore Packos shirts on the show.

I gave it a shot on Nick at Night, and didn't find it that funny. But, I remember the guy who was trying to get out the army by dressing like a woman. That was one of the characters who wasn't in the movie.

All I know, the folks who I was with were hyping those hot dogs, and they didn't seem like that big a deal. Kind of like the Varsity here in Atlanta, an old drive-in. Big tradition here, and known nation-wide, but the food is pretty bad.

EDIT: And I remember Jamie Farr's name from the Saturday Night Live, Celebrity Jeopardy sketch, with Will Farrel and the guy who did Sean Connery.
