Getting hitched...

After being close friends for a whole year, I finally got engaged to the woman of my dreams. She's perfect... I love her hair, her eyes, her smile, her laughter, her body, her sense of humor, her voice... everything... *sigh*
And yes, getting engaged means we're getting married. The date isn't set, but I expect around Spring-time or Summer.

We are taking a trip down route 66 in a red convertible and if we are not married by the time we hit Vegas....then that's where we will get married....

So ladies and Damien, the Dude is taken. Sorry about that, better luck next time.

And to T... I love you with all my heart, mind and soul...

I'm going to assume that by T you mean Terri, not me. (Some people around here call me T, you see...)

But congratulations! That's excellent news, W. Dude! But... you're getting married in the states? Is she American? Details, man, details!

There is a world outside this forum, you know. Just wanted to mention it here as I have friends here.

But thanks! Yeah, we are planning on getting married in the US, like I said. Not quite sure how or when, but we are working on that. Just wanted to share the good news.

Good stuff. I like the convertible to Vegas idea.

That's crazy talk! Seriously though, congrats. I like the way you're doing a kind of honey moon before the wedding.

Congrats.

I'd like to drive 66 at some point. About 85% still exists -- but not much is marked. There's a map/guide you can buy.

Thanks!

Where is route 66 anyway? I tried looking it up, but it's very confusing. I'm thinking about the historical route 66, of course. I know it goes through Vegas, but other than that...? And how long will it take to travel through it?

It runs from Chicago to LA. But as a cross country route, it was replaced by the interstate system in the 60's. It's not on maps, but large sections of it exist using different road names. That's why you need a special map and a guide book. I'd guess it's around a couple of thousand miles at least.

Here:

The Mother Road: Historic Route 66

The site says it's 2448 miles long. (about 4000 km)

Found this on the site:

Amazon.com: Route 66: Traveler's Guide and Roadside Companion: Tom Snyder, Bobby Troup: Books
