Unhappy My Corrupt File

I have been working on a piece of writing for over a month, and all of a sudden, when I try to open it, my computer says it cannot open it because it is a corrupt file. I did not save it anywhere else...I think it is gone.

This is very depressing...has this ever happened to anybody? Could you ever retrieve it?

(And yes, my lesson was learned...I will now save my work anywhere and everywhere I can!)

You're out of luck, I'm afraid.

Go buy a 130.00 Maxtor One Touch external drive and back up your files automatically every night. It so easy and inexpensive. Even if you say you'll back it up, this ensures that it will actually happen.

I had a finished book (90k words or so) and decided to do a quick spell check. Before I knew it, at least 60k or those words were changed to "month" completely at random. No only that, but then the stupid word processor insisted on autosaving?

And when I say "changed to "month" completely at random", I mean it literally. The last line in the new version was

"Mission month," she month to herself month month month pleasure.

Always, always keep at least two backups. (I did, fortunately. In case anyone wondered.)

If you give me the corrupted file I'll do my best to get your work back. I'm good with that kind of thing.

You shouldn't have to lose the whole thing.

How long in pages/words is it and what is the type of document.

Try right clicking on the file from Windows(if that is what you are using). Does the it allow that? If so what type of file is it shown as?
