My amazing week!

Not only have an amazing week, but today has been awesome!!

This week I am 41 days without red meat ( a self test/ project I've been doing ), I've finished a long photoshop project I've been working on ( my 8 hour project, let me know if you want to see the finishing picture ) , as well have started writing the begining of my book I've been working on for about a month and a half ( at work, mind you ).

Today, a long time customer, came through just to talk to me, because today was dredful outside and he had nothing better to do with his granddaughters. He's an elderly man with an Irish accent. He came through to buy oatmeal raisin cookies, and while I was talking he offered me a single rose. I laughed, since I haven't been given flowers for a long time. My co-workers were laughing hystericly because a random man ( in their eyes ) was offering me a flower. My boyfriend works a couple departments over, and loved the idea that I got a flower, because of my " genuine " personality. It honestly made my day, and now is the center piece for my mantel.

Then I came home and on another thread I posted, a kid on here who is mearly 15, called me a great mom. By far the best compliment in the entire world. I try, but sometimes fail.. That kid gives me much hope! It made me smile a lot.. ha..

Then my mother ( whom I only talk to once every 3 or so months ) stopped over to look at a photography project my other half and I are working on, and absolutely loved it. She encouraged us to keep moving forward in all of our projects, and keeps convincing us that we can and should go professional. This is something both Chris and I hope for, but neither of us are financially set yet. We're going to wait a few years, but keep doing side jobs to keep the income coming in.

I've had a great week, and I'm hoping the same for the next week to come!

Sorry if this is sloppy, I'm celebrating my 41st day of no read meat, tonight with a little bit of Jack, and rootbeer. I just wanted to share what is going on in my life at the moment. Thanks for reading. : )

No meat, but liquor. Makes sense.

I want to see your photoshop eight-hour project.

I'm curious about the no red meat experiment. Sounds...interesting.

Glad you're having a great day/week though! It's nice to see good news in this part of the forum for a change.

Wow, that I wrote that horribly. Sorry, again, I was celebrating and obviously am not the greatest writer when I'm un-sober. :\

Malone, this is the picture I did. It doesn't seem like much unless you view it big. There is a little magnifine glass at the top of the picture that says all sizes, click that to see the original size.
Sometimes I just let the wind take me away on Flickr - Photo Sharing! <-- The finished project.

I love critique, good or bad. Tell me what you think!

Tiamat10, I took 5 vices, or 5 things that I feel I need in my life, and decided to try to give one of them up. 2 of the other 4 are priority, and the other 2, I'm not ready to give up yet. So red meat was the winner. I thought it'd be easy since people do it for lent, but nope. My boyfriend is a butcher, and hated this idea. Also, there is a thing called " Rib Fest " here in Nebraska, that lasts about a week long, and all major steak houses takes up 3 main roads to set up grills and they out do eachother by making the best ribs around. Then everyone goes home and makes their own, after tasting the ones at Rib Fest, it's kind of a huge thing here. Well I wasn't eating meat at the time, and missed the event, after celebrating with all my fellow Nebraskins since as far back as I can rememeber. So, this wasn't/ isn't easy for me at all, but I'm proud of myself for making it so long, and am debating wheather I should stop now, or continue on. I haven't decided yet. I know it sounds weird, but I need to test myself somehow to see if I could actually finish something I started, and I have/ am. I understand if you think it's silly, but it means a lot to me for making it so long, with all the tests that I've been through.

: )

Great picture. Very well done. You're purty.

Rib fest? Let me get in the truck and start driving now...for next year.

I don't think it's stupid. I think it's a tragedy that you missed out on something as tantalizing as the rib fest thing you mentioned, but not stupid.

I liked the picture too, by the way.

I'm guessing it's based on the wind filter and the grain filter? All those little particles must have taken forever to position right and make look unique.

Thanks!! The picture took me forever! Yeah, I had to take each peice off of my head and place it above me without going too far out. I liked how it turned out, but that wasn't my original idea. The original idea was to have to top part of my head completely off. After seeing the complete work, before taking my head off, I liked it, and decided that is was finished. heh. That's exactly what I placed it on. The texture on my skin, is the grain effect overlay, and the partical textures are a sand overlay. Both took a long time to perfect. ( I went through like 4 mouses to find one that would work for the cutting out process :\ ) This was not easy on my carpal tunnel.

Rib Fest is one of the biggest events in our state ( other then Husker football, which is like a holiday every Saturday.. Everything closes down for the occasion.. Especially first and last game of the season. ) So, you see how hard project ' No red meat' is for me. Hence, why I'm so proud of myself. Everybody I've told about it, said they couldn't do it. No grilling out during game days, and no ribs seemed crazy to them. I had to see if I could do it. And I did/am. : )

Thanks again to both of you for taking the time to look at the picture! It honestly means a lot to me.

Sounds like an absolutely wonderful week but for the Rib Fest. I have a serious weakness for ribs.

WTG!

I like your picture you created a lot, very nice work. I wouldn't have the patience, though I used to when I was really into drawing and painting. I like photographing flowers and wildlife more now. Sometimes though I get the urge to draw, but it comes rarely anymore. Good job!
