Yummy.

So I made veggie pizza today and it was good and I didn't fuck it up. (I've never made homemade pizza before, you see.)

That is all.

Ha! I love making pizza. I've been perfecting a crust for a few years now and it's pretty awesome -- if I don't mind saying so.

Once you get the crust down, experimenting with topping is lots of fun. My favorite is a white pizza made with feta and mozzarella.

Sometimes I cook pizza on a charcoal grill, which gives it a great flavor.

Damn. I wish I'd made one tonight.

The crust is the hard part. Everything pretty much relies on it too. I hate having to let it sit overnight after I spend the time making it and am hungry right then.

Glad it worked out for you.

See, while I agree that waiting on the crust is tantalizing to say the least, I like pizza much better the day after. So you can imagine what I'm going to have for breakfast tomorrow.

I don't have to let mine sit over night. I mix it up and use quick rise yeast. It sits for 1/2 hour and it's ready.

Yum. Pizza! I like making the dough in the morning and punching it down two or three times before using it. My current favorite is barbecue chicken pizza. I make it on the grill.

How timely this thread may be... !! I've promised someone that I will cook them pizza when they come for a visit next year - only my experimentations with the crust are...unsuccessful. Is anyone is willing to share their recipe...?

That's the base recipe I started with. I kind of worship that guy, since he's from the same state as me, still lives here, and went to the University of Georgia. I'd never tried to make a crust before I saw that show, and my recipe now is varied from his and kind of just a feel thing, but you can't go wrong following his instructions.

Awesome - cheers for that, Malone.

And raised a positive response from three people. So your point is? Or are you just feeling a bit sour today? Maybe not the wildest week on the planet, but that was his high point.

Alton Brown rocks. I watch his show often. That's a good starter recipe too. Add a tablespoon of butter to the olive oil and you'll get a smoother crust that browns beautifully. Use a pizza stone (they're dirt cheap) if you're cooking in an oven, and spread some cornmeal (just a little) on the pizza pan, that'll help keep it from sticking. Don't use too much sauce, it'll make your dough soggy. For Chicago-style, add the cheese first, in a shallow cake pan if you don't want to buy a deep-dish pan or small iron skillet.

I'm not a very good cook, let alone good at making pizza. If I had to make anything on the stove to survive I'd starve.

Veggie pizza sounds very appetizing.
