Where do I start?
I guess the best place is the beginning. I started a new job in May and really loved it. A few weeks ago there were rumors that people would get paid off because the company can't afford so many employees because they were over budget for last year (in terms of wages). My boss pulled me aside and told me not to worry - he would gaurantee me my job until september, by which time he thought a permanent job would become available. Next thing I know I've been given 12 days off (that I didn't ask for) and have spent most of it looking for a new job and on here, messing about.
So I'm back to work next thursday to find out where I stand. Already, I've heard three other people were let go.
To re-direct my attention I got really into my writing. Today I decided that since its the 1st of August I'll set myself my own little NaNoWriMo - I'm bored, I want to do NaNo this year and I'm impatient (those being a few reasons for it). I started an hour ago and have 480 words so far. Thought that it will get the next week in before I start work and stop me fretting about my job.
I mean, I should trust my boss right? He said he would do his best to keep me on. And what's the worst that can happen? There are plenty of non-skilled jobs I can get to fill in the gap in the meantime and I have savings just for emergencies like these...
Just thinking aloud really - don't want to worry my parents with it

I never trust the boss. I've been the boss, I know how they think. And I've seen my friends who own their own business (I did for about a year) lie their asses off to the employees. Whatever it takes.

i would trust him, he may have just given you the time off
so you were not around whilst the shit was hitting the fan
and until such time that he gives you concrete evidence
to worry, like "hey, you know how I said, well sorry"
i would keep my head down and bum up, literally
and try to always look on the bright side of life
shit will happen soon enough without you
fabricating untruths and story telling

Don't trust anyone but yourself when it comes to work.
In the end, it's best to be safe than sorry; and that means being prepared to make drastic changes... or not so drastic ones.

just use that "time off" to violently fornicate with your boss.
Want to keep that job?

That is true, they also plan ahead because they crave security.
Where the hell did my comfort blanket go?...

I ate it. I'm an Aquarius (rebel/revolutionary). I deem this world too safe - and all its blankets must be destroyed.
