Riding the Way to Beijing




Riders take a group photo in front of the EiffelTower in Paris. The French Cycle Touring Federation organized a bicycleride from Paris to Beijing, echoing the upcoming summer Olympics. Some100 riders embarked on the cycling tour covering a distance of 12,000kilometers on Sunday, and will arrive at the foot of Beijing's GreatWall on August 3. Two Chinese riders are taking part in this event.



A team of 105 cyclists is taking on a Paris-Beijing tour to cheerfor the upcoming summer Olympics. The team has reached northwestChina's Gansu province.
The cyclists were spotted Tuesday on the street of the provincial capital Lanzhou, local newspaper Lanzhou Daily reported.
The team, which started off in Paris on March 16 and entered Chineseterritory on June 16, is scheduled to arrive in Beijing on August 3.Through the four-and-half-month journey, the cyclists will finish adistance of about 12,000 kilometers.
Most of the team members are French, together with riders fromGermany, Belgium, Canada, Spain, the United States, and China. The agerange of the team members is from 20 to 76.
The team also includes a blind member, who shares a specially-made bike with his brother.
