17-yr-olds have more expectations than 12-yr-olds. They've had more conversations with other guys and adults and a better idea of what to expect from women and sex in general. Certainly, there are grateful horny 17-yr-olds out there, but what these girls are after is:

A) a break from guys their own age because they've had bad break-ups with said guys
B) anonymity that comes from 'boinking' a guy who's in a different school
C) an easily trained, acquired and silenced partner--less stress than keeping a 17-yr-old partner quiet, around and doing what you want him to

All the girls I knew who practiced the art of barely pubescent guys had very bad experiences with the much larger, much more independent, much moutier and more demanding guys their own age. Most had fallen head-over-heels for complete assholes and thus found the temporary retreat to someone much younger and less experienced relieving because the 12-yr-old would worship them by comparison to the former lovers and was not as physically imposing.

None of the girls were ugly, but all of them were horribly self-conscious. The ones I knew intimately also admitted to being molested when much younger and usually came from abusive homes.

I don't think it was a long-term habit for most of the girls, but rather, a reprieve from the stresses of similar-age dating.

Yes, Joe, it was hush-hush. As self-conscious as these girls were and considering the nature of their exploits, they would have died from social castration if word had been spread. Not a doubt in my mind that these girls might have even killed themselves--no one looks fondly on people who prey on children, even if these boys were four to six years younger than the girls and perfectly willing.

Surprises me too. In high-school, I saw girls that age doing all number of things, but that was not one of them. There was one particular girl who was rode six ways to Sunday, but the guys she was having sex with were in fifth year (15-16).

I agree with Joe - the girls in my high-school were far more mature than the guys.

Seig, you didn't need to explain it. I get the concept. I just contend that it's rare. My wife agrees. And we both went to very large high schools.

I'd say that our own personal experience and anecdotal evidence is about as good as it's going to get on this one -- as far as saying how common the behavior is.

But I will say, a 14 year old who does a 17 year old is not going to keep quite about it, different school or no. I'd say far less so than a 17 year old. The idea this could be kept hush-hush for any period of time doesn't seem very likely to me.

Anyway, I pity the 17 year old girl desperate enough to be driven to doing the nasty with this guy.

Meaning a guy who only has one teste versus two, Malone. A teste that is not descended is still up in the abdomen--not just a matter of lower than the other. Most of the time, the teste will have to be removed or placed into the scrotum surgically because undescended testes tend to go cancerous.

I never said it was common, Joe and I certainly didn't mean to imply it. Like I said earlier, I knew a 'handful' of girls (about three or four) who went after really young guys--this despite going to a school of more than two thousand. Granted also, all of these girls were in my study hall and that would imply a much larger population than most are willing to see or admit to.

Men tend to brag about sexual conquests--however, fewer people are willing to believe a 12-yr-old if he says he's banging a 17-yr-old than a 17-yr-old who says he's shagging a 15-yr-old. Also, if she frankly tells him that he's never getting any from her again and that she'll make his life miserable (reminiscent of the threats pedophiles often give) the boy is more likely to listen than the 17-yr-old.

Mostly, it's the illusion of privacy/safety an the knowledge she is doing something that is A) naughty or B) performing come kind of beneficial civil service by giving the little guy a chance, that keep her coming back for more. A lot of it's the worship factor though, I think. If precious boyfriends treated them like garbage, they're apt to take anythign they can get and as inoffensive as possible (while yet feeling like some kind of sex goddess). Also, it wouldn't surprise me if some of the girls felt rather flattered by their very young lovers spouting it off to their friends--so long as the rumors didn't come to her school or were never treated seriously by people she respected (very common in girls who have been sexually mistreated from a oung age--they like feeling rather talented).

Personally, I wouldn't have been caught dead in a relationship with tristiano--esp not in public--at that age. Any boy who blabs to people on the internet about who he's 'fucking' and talks about his gal with such candid callousness can't act like he truly loves her when in person. The disrespect for her is so obvious that I want to strangle soemthing.

And hence I believe the girl must have a crisis of self-esteem and is probably habitually active with boys of varying ages through her life because *possibly* it makes her feel good about herself. It may give her the satisfaction of being 'bad' or doing something 'naughty' because she's immature as well as self-destructive. It may also be that... well, that it's habit to fuck a guy--any guy. Maybe it's the illusion of a relationship she's desperately clinging to and she thinks she has a hope with tristiano, but I feel doubly sorry for her if that's the case.

For both of their sakes, I hope each is just as callous, abusive, immature and self-destructive as the other so they have no one to blame (really) but themselves and no one really has a cause to pity them later. Chalk it up to youthful stupidity.

That's what I was thinking as well.

I knew two girls who had relationships with much younger guys. Both were known for screwing any male that moved, both were attracted to doing things that they knew their parents would disapprove of (one specifically picked targets she knew her parents would hate, as it got her attention), and both were immature. At later ages, relationships where the woman is older than the man can work, but it's not common at younger ages; not impossible, but certainly not likely. Of the boys, one was confused and rather innocent; the other was just a loser that liked to think he was mature, much like the OP.

Most girls that I knew at that age were going for older men, feeling that they were more mature and more sexually experienced than boys their own ages. They'd die of shame if they were dating a younger guy.

Almost any girl can find a partner, even if she is unattractive. Those partners don't have to be younger, either; there are a lot of men out there, and besides, some people are attracted to girls that others would find ugly. It's not that hard to find a relationship; it may not be lasting or even that promising, but it doesn't have to suck as much as I suspect that that particular 17/14 fling does.

Of course, teenage relationships is general tend to be laughable. I distinctly remember being repeatedly informed by this one girl that she had "met [her] true love" and that they'd be "in love forever"; it wasn't about sex, according to her, although they were practically having it in the hallway every thirty seconds. The next year, he moved, and suddenly she had a new "true love" who'd she'd love "forever".

Remedy

You know, I understand not liking the general terms used for relationships - the word boyfriend drives me up the wall, so my partner and I have always used partner (ha, which drives a mutual friend up the wall, so he'll always correct it to "special friend"). So I get that. But using the word lover, especially as a 14 year old? It's just saddening. Of course, it's also indicative of the type of relationship: sexual all the way.

At this point I only read and laugh, making counter points would be of course pointless. If I were any of you, I would be most likely saying similar things. In fact, I agree with many of your general statements.
