In your stories, what kind of way do you portray magic? Is it not very prominent, like just a rumor of it to instill fear in your readers? Or is it out there like in a Dungeon and Dragons game where wizards and sorcerers fling spells at will? Discuss.
In my stories the MC can usually use magic and i prefer to think if it like an energy. I don't like using 'spells'. How about you DD?
Spells? So you like to think of it as a finite amount of energy that once exhausted can't be called upon? Mine is something like that. I have one story where drinking blood makes the spirit within this guy stronger, so he can cast Oath. (Bloodlord, will post soon). My latest story makes magic draw upon their life force. If they run out, they die.
that's a great idea!! *jots down for later use* I like it when writers put spins on stuff like that because it gives the book something extra. I'll be sure to look out for it when it's posted! And you've almost got it. It's like when you run a race. After casting a spell it tires your magical supply a bit but it replenishes itself after awhile.
I tend to go with the traditional fantasy stereotypes. Witches stirring steaming green potion in a giant black cauldron. Not very creative, I know. But I do make those cliches original and crazy in my own kind of way. In my story, I made a spaceship full of animals fall out of the sky and whoever eats those animals becomes like Superman. I also turned a princess into a dragon on accident...yeah, it's dumb. I can see that I don't know a lot of stuff about magic from looking at what you guys wrote. How do you come up with all that stuff?
Your stuff seems pretty cool dream! If it's on here I might take a look ! And how do we come up with it? Insanity!
Eh, my stuff really sucks. It's kind of embarassing. Lol, well if you're a writer you have to be insane. We're the only people who can hear voices in our heads without being called psychopaths.
lol. You hear them too!?!?! I bet it doesn't, you're just being modest!
No, I swear to God my stuff reeks. I wrote it when I was 14 as a writing experiment...
And you're only what, 16? I like your stuff, at least. And yes, I'm insane. The muse speaks to me in strange ways. My magic changes almost every story I write, but I like it. Witches and cauldrons, lol.
