A place to discuss the best names in fantasy fiction writing.

I am a fan of Terry Brooks, R.A. Salvatore, Patrick Rothfuss, and Brent Weeks.

What about all of you? Do you have a favorite book series or author?

I've not heard of any of those authors?!?! I might look 'em up, I'm in need of some books!

Some fantasy authors I like : Garth Nix, Joseph Delaney, Christopher Paolini, Angie Sage

I vaguely have heard Delany. But I absolutely love Garth Nix! His Keys to the Kingdom series is fantastic, can't wait for the last one. I am reading Abhorsen atm, actually. I do like the Eragon series, but I wish he'd just fuck Arya and call it a day. I will check out Angie Sage too.

    You forgot a period.

And Patrick Rothfuss's Name of the Wind is amazing. Downright spectacular.

I'm not very familiar with a lot of fantasy writers. There is this one that I love, though. D.J MacHale. Ever read the Pendragon series? OMG, freakin thrill ride!

I haven't read the Pendragon series. I'm lame like that. I'll have to check them out.

And to Helicio: Tad is awesome. A bit lengthy, but freaking amazing. Terry's alright, not my cup of tea sometimes.

Terry Brooks is my favorite. But in saying that some of his books dissapoint. Was quite dissapointed by the ending of Jaka Rues (however its spelt). But the rest have been great. My favorite of his would still have to be the Landover series.

Sarah Douglas's early books were great. Then she got weird. Hint to would be fantasy writers: If you turn your characters into Gods you can't expect a sequel to work.

Raymond E Feist is my wifes favourite. Again I enjoyed his earlier books more. Same turning characters into Gods issue.

Robbin Hobb is another favorite. Haven't read her most recent sereis, but the assaians appretince was awesome. Although after nine books I was begining to wonder if she had heard of a happy ending. She was rather cruel to her MC. Loved it.

Never read the Landover series, really. I haven't found any of them at Half-Price Books. But Jarka Ruus... the entire series was a disappointment there. I liked the Talismans one the best. The villains were so believable.

Yeah... I thought about making a story where my assassin became a god... but that would have to be the last book in the series.

Never read Feist, Douglas, or Hobb.

I just got sidetracked on google. What was I talking about?
