Anyone ever read Moorcock's The Elric Saga? I just (sort of) started it today. Actually, I accidentally picked up the third book, thinking it was the first, and read the first chapter. It seemed rather interesting, but even though I grabbed the first book after I realized what I'd done, I didn't start reading it. I don't know why.
I've heard from several poeple that it's pretty good, but I've never had the chance to read it myself.
I just finished the Host by Stephenie Meyer. It was wondrous.
Okay, i might see if I can get a hold of it then
I honestly don't see how Name of the wind is like a piece of Harry Potter fanfic but... I know what you mean about the love for the MC but I actually enjoyed that. Am I the only one who reads and doesn't want the MC to lose?
Actually, The Name of the Wind is a lot more sophisticated than Harry POtter in several places, and in no way does it resemble a fanfic. I will agree, however, that the amount of "love" the character is shown was extremely obnoxious throughout the entire story. Yes, it nice to root for the main character, but when he can play the most complicated song in the world missing four(?) strings, it doesn't seem like he needs much rooting, eh?
Yeah! I love Brent Weeks! i want to read his next book but I'm still finishing his trilogy. Tolkein, Stuart Hill, and Darren Shan are some of my favorites too. I love Weeks's trilogy so much it's sad... once you read it you get hooked and just have to finish it!
