    Why Leafs and Not Leaves?

Last night as I drove home from work, my radio was tuned into the local public access station which broadcasts NPR. On Monday evenings they have a short segment called 'All Tech Considered' where they talk about technology in some form or other. In yesterday's segment, they interviewed the main guy (dunno if he's the CEO or president or whatever) of Nissan who was talking about their electric car the Nissan Leaf. He stressed that you refer to two of these cars as Nissan Leafs, not Leaves. It just looks and sounds wrong to me. Would anyone else have issue with calling them Nissan Leafs or is it just me?

The car is called leaf, so multiple cars would be leafs.

in nature, more then one leaf is leaves, but IMO when using a proper name,it would be add s.

The computer mouse is similar, and this explanation sounds like it would apply. Mouse-mice, mouse(computer)-mouses.
What is the plural for computer mouse

Grammar is a weakness for me, so don't take my word for it.

I have a similar issue with my cars. I get issued with a new Ford Focus every six months, and so over the years have I had several Ford Focuses, or Foci?

Fords Focus - You have had far too many Fords and they were all the model called a Focus. Every 6 months! Somebody should be shot for that gross carbon footprint. Modern cars are good for at least 100,000 miles, even Fords. I keep cars on average 9 years, I bought a second hand Mazda 2 years ago (Carbon footprint already laid) and expect it to last until I pop my clogs.

I am comfortable with Nissan Leafs, they are using the word as a name.

I'm thinking they should've called it a Nissan Plug-in. Or Gasless.

I like it. It reinforces the idea that it's a product. They created a Leaf, not a leaf. Many leaves are leaves, but if you have more than one of their cards, it's a couple of Leafs. Like Leif Ericson. If he had a cousin also named Leif, then you would say there were two Leifs in the family.
