The war that time forgot

I got this title from a DC Comics comic book ("Showcase Presents: The War That Time Forgot") and think it could be interesting to write a novel based on it. I haven't had the chance to read it yet between Showcase Presents Superman, Batman, Batgirl, House of Mysteryes, Justice Leage of America, Legion of Super-heroes, Elongated Man, Green Arrow and whatever they are all called, but it seems the plot is a squadron from the US Army traveling to a deserted island somewhere, where they find and fight dinosaurs.

I though about exploring this some more, and taking it even further. The idea is still the same, one squadron the the army going up against pretty much anything. But what if the army develops a time machine and sends the squadron through? (btw I'm not too into military terms, so with "squadron", I mean footsoldiers with rifles, handgrenades and that. Maybe ten, twelve or so in total). One of the soldiers have the time machine in his backpack, so they can continue to travel through time. The problem is they never know where they will end up, so they get to meet everything from dinosaurs to pirates to spacemen in the future. And even through all this, the basics are the same. Just a bunch of terrified men stuck in strange places where they clearly don't belong. And sure they have far superior weapons than, say, knights in the medieval times, but they are also outnumbered and running on a limited supply of bullets. At one point they will run out, and what then? Then can of course stock up in the pirate ages and other places where they have invented guns, but they can't rely on their combat knives all day long either.

Anyway I wish I could write this, but just don't have the time. Feel free to use as much as you want of this, although you might want to change the tiel to avoid a lawsuit from DC Comics.

Sounds... interesting if you can flesh it out. Oh btw, a unit that small would be a Squad. You were close, just didn't need the extra letters LOL.

As I said, I put it here to others can use the idea. I simply don't have the time. I can of course help you with tips and ideas if you want, just send me a message.
