Diary of a slacker
I slack, therefore I am. In fact, I slack, therefore I am browsing the internet when I should be writing. I am a slacker. My writing is the slackee.

Amen!
I wonder if there's a group for this. We could have meetings and have inspirational speakers and serve power drinks and chocolate things... Yeah, I'll get on that... eventually!

Wow, how true is this? I don't want to work--I don't want to do anything but read posts all day. Can I get paid for this? Then I wouldn't want to do it, would I?
Ho hum...back to work...maybe after this nap...

Me too! I would be as happy as a pig in mud if I could just read and respond all day. Not much that I'm really interested in can be done for a living I'm afraid.........cest la vie *sigh*

Diary of a Slacker, Post 2
Some are born to slack, some achieve slackness, and some have slacking thrust upon them. It's a measure of my undisputed mastery of the art of slacking, that I've forgotten which of these applies to me.
In fact, I'm an overachiever at slacking.
As an apprentice slacker, I wasted several years in university, gaining valuable slacking credits by procrastinating on my assignments and generally not being able to be bothered. But I drank too enthusiastically to qualify as a real slacker.
Then I went out into the world of work, where I attempted to dodge effort and endeavour of all kinds in favour of the guilty pleasures of slacking. As a result, I am now employed by local government, where I cram almost an hour of genuinely hard work into each day. In between bouts of slacking, of course.
I can recommend local government--or any other organisation where productivity is hard to verify--to any young wannabe slackers out there. But the real trick, if you want to be a slacker, is to say you're a writer when all you really do is hang out on forums all day long, slacking.
Personally I've mastered this art so thoroughly that I haven't written anything readable for nearly a month. Hence this thread, which is my attempt to start writing again--in such a way as not to interrupt the actual slacking which takes up so much of my life.

NS,
Your level of slackerdom is really something I could work toward. I'm impressed with your ability to do nothing but the appearance of doing something. I should look for a government job, my career as a medical biller is much too dependant on my ability to get the job done to be a successful slacker. I do slack daily and push off hours worth of work while posting and reading (and napping occassionally) but eventually my conscience gets the best of me and reminds me that if I don't work, I don't get paid. Ho hum...so much for being a successful slacker.
You are my slacker hero.

I can do better than that.
I am a freelance circus artist, which means even when I'm working, it's only for ten minutes per day (If I do two acts, they're five minutes each). I have to spend at least half an hour before hand warming up, but in the end, I probably only do an hour of actual work. When I'm not working, I train for about two to three hours a day, five days a week.
I have never had a job where I had to wake up before 9:00am.
I'm free lance now and don't have to get out of bed at all if I don't want to. I have a job next week for five days, and probably won't work again until Christmas.
This leaves a lot of time for slacking, at which I'm very good. I have the time to write that other people would probably kill for, but I've been too busy slacking on these forums of late to get anything real done.
Ok I think that wraps it up. I'm the Queen of Slack. NS, pass me the crown if you please.

Yeah, okay, I can't be bothered to argue. I'll get around to giving you the crown soon. Well, fairly soon.

I think that right there shows who's the real queen... or king... or something.
Too funny, NS.

No rush NS, I have a heavy week of slacking in front of me, but will be needing the crown for a slackers event, at which I am a guest speaker next weekend. I only just got a call about it yesterday because the slackers couldn't be bothered sending me an official invitiation.

Oh yeah, that conference. They asked me to speak too, but I didn't feel like it.
