God

"It makes you wonder, don't it?" croaked the voice of a forgotten man "God must be sick." Those words echoed around Jannet's head, aching and stabbing against her belief. Her once definate opinion had now been differed. There was a long silence. The longest either of them had ever experiace. Jannet was the first to speak, with a groogy and un-practised whisper.
"I know exactly what you mean... b-but, maybe there was a reason... maybe she'd been bad. Maybe she deserved it."
"What!" The firmness in his voice made her jump. "What the fuck is wrong with you, you're telling me that God planned that? You're telling me someone deserved that! Look, Jannet, I know you're a bible basher or whatever, but no-one. No-one, deserves that. Not a thief, not a murderer, not the wicked step-mother from Cinderella. No-one!"

However she looked at it, she knew he was right. How it pained her to think it, but he was right. God had made a mistake. Or maybe, as Jack had claimed thousands of times, God was just some sick bastard who liked to mess up peoples lives and watch them suffer. Jannet didn't quite believe that, but she questioned the truth in his story for the first time in her life.
"I know." mumbled the voice of a forgotten woman who's eyes were transfixed on the bloodied body of an innocent girl.

I'm not sure where this came from. There was no insparation for it. Probably why it just didn't seem worth it.

What you've got here as a good begining to a story. Like any good begging, it left me with alot of questions. What happend? Why has he lost faith? If you could think of a good plot to put around this begging, I think this could be a fine short story yet, possibly about a suicide? Murder? I don't know whatever clicks with you but I think you've got the start of something.
