Tsubasa: logged off at 2:06EST
Kuroame: I already started school… last week…
Kuroame: logged off 2:07EST

It was 6:00 the alarm blared in Les’ ear, “Uh… I can wait 30 more minutes…” he thought aloud as he shuts it off and threw his head under a pillow.

“Get up! It’s the first day of school, how do you feel?” Les’ mom, Rachelle, announced quite loudly as she swung open the door.

“Fine.” Les responded from under his pillow.

“Get up, I can’t take you to school today if you miss the bus.”

Les could feel her presence still hovering in the door, waiting for a response, “Okay mom.” Les removed the pillow from his head and sat up in his bed, just so that his mother would leave the door, and then immediately slammed his face back into the pillow. “Yep, 30 minutes.”

*45 minutes later*

“What are you still doing here?! You said you were getting up!” Rachelle shouted at her son still asleep in bed.

“Damn…” Les whispered under his breath disappointed in his ‘self-alarm-clock system’. “I’m sorry mom, I’ll walk.” He knew his mother wouldn’t let him walk the three miles to school.

“No, I’ll take you be ready in ten minutes!”

“Okay mom…” Les waited for his mother to leave then rolled out of bed and slothfully walked into his bathroom, showered, brushed his teeth and headed back into his room to get dressed.

“Uniform…” Les mumbled to himself, still partially asleep. He picked up his neatly folded uniform from off of his computer monitor. He slipped on the pair of form fitting black pants and a matching button-up shirt.

“Hurry up Les!”

“Coming Mom!”

The second bell sounded; class was starting. “Okay welcome to English 11, first I’d like to introduce or new foreign exchange student, Yukino Ayumi.”

A small Asian girl walked to the front of the classroom. “Hi, that’s me.” She had an uneasy nervous smile do to the fact that it was her first time in front of such a large American audience.

“Would you like to say a bit about yourself?” Mr. Small asked.

“Umm… Sure”, she was a bit hesitant. Nervousness made her forget things which in turn made it hard for her to express herself to the class, but she tried pulled herself together “I am from Tokyo Japan, I have one younger brother and an older sister, and I like to read…“ Yukino looked to Mr. Small to let him know she was done, he of course was busy with something else. She cleared her throat to gain his attention. “Um that’s it…”

Mr. Small instantly jumped to attention, “Well thank you Miss Ayumi.” He waited for her to walk back to her seat then began to take attendance, “Ashley Alridge,” she raised her hand, “Marcus Benton,” he raised his, “Billy Gate…”

While Mr. Small continued taking attendance Yukino’s eyes began to wonder around the room. There was lot in the class about Japanese culture, pictures of kimono lined one wall and there was a large poster with all of the katakana characters on another. All she could think was what would an English Literature class have so much to do with Japan?

***

Les ran through the front door of the school and crossed the hallway into the adjacent main office, “Hi, I need a pass to…” he quickly whipped out his class list and read off the first class on it, “English, English 11.”

“What’s your name?” Les pointed to the list his last name was kind of complicated it was much easier to just show it. The secretary wrote out a pass and handed it to him.

Less snatched it. “Thank you.” He headed out the door and down the hall, he suddenly stopped. “Oh no… where’s class!”

***

“…Okay now those are the rules.” Mr. Small walked to his desk and picked up a book from out of a large box, “These here is your books for this class.” Mr. Small said as he held up the thick 1000 paged text books to show the class.

Yukino sat in the front of the room with a puzzled look on her face. She, seemingly the only one paying attention to the teacher. She nervously raised her hand.

“Yes, uh…” Mr. Small paused for a second trying to remember the girls name, he was very forgetful, “… Yukino, do you need help with anything?”

Yukino got up from her seat and stood next to her desk like she was so accustomed to doing. “Mr. Small… you said here is your books, is it not here are your books?”

“Um… yes, I guess your right.” Mr. Small didn’t expect such good grammar from someone new to the country, “That’s quite impressive Miss Ayumi.”

“Thank you.” She responded.

The door swung open without warning, knocking over the bookcase unwisely placed behind it, “Ooops…” It was Les, he had instantly gained two strikes against him, one for being late and another for being destructive, but he knew exactly how to resolve that. Les let out a deep regretful sigh, part one of the act. “I’ll clean it up…” Part two; he knew the teacher wouldn’t let him, Les knew everything.

“I’ll get it, just get to your seat…,” Mr. Small suddenly realized that this must be his missing. “Are you Les?”
He wasn’t all that quick.

Les nodded keeping his remorseful front up and began to work his way toward the only open seat in the class, the one next to the new foreign exchange student; he sat down reached into his bag. Les pulled out a brand new sketch book; a test to see if the teacher would mind.

The insignia on the sketch book immediately caught her Yukino’s attention. “Kumo desu?…” she whispered. It was the picture of the cloud… she had seen it so often.

“Miss Ayumi, your book,” Mr. Small tossed the book on her desk awaking her from her logo educed trance.

“Thank you.” she said.

“Your welcome.” He moved on to Les, “And here’s yours Les.” But he was in another world captivated by his art; his picture was quickly taking shape.

“Hey that’s pretty good!” Congratulations, one of the two things that could pry him from his work.

“Thank you sir.” Les said with a smile, proudly showing off his work to Mr. Small, “You really think so?”

“Yeah… it’s too bad I don’t allow drawing in my class huh…” Mr. Small grabbed Les’ sketch book from him and took it to his desk, “You’ll get it back at the end of class, and don’t worry.”

“Yes sir.” Les mumbled.

The rest of class went by fairly quick; it was only reflections on summer vacation, the “potential” curriculum (they always change midway through the school year), mostly things like that.

“Thanks.” Les said snatching his sketch book from Mr. Small’s desk. “See you tomorrow Mr. Small.” Les stepped out of the classroom and waited by its door for Yukino to leave. He turned to the page he was working on before and began to work from memory; the hair, the nose, the eyes, for once everything was in proportion to what he was actually trying to draw. His masterpiece nearing completion Les stuck his head back in the class room to see what exactly was taking so long. Yukino and Mr. Small having a conversation, from what he could tell it was about… grammar…

“But Mr. Small, I didn’t Interrupt.” Yukino contested

“…Okay Miss Ayumi, just please don’t correct my English anymore, Its kind of… embarrassing to be corrected by an exchange student.”

“But Mr. Small-“

He interrupted, “Yukino, would you like a detention this early in the year for something so small.”

“No, but…” Yukino paused thinking of whether continuing further was worth the detention, she came to her conclusion, “Mr. Small, I-“

“Ah, there you are!” Les ran in and grabbed Yukino by the arm and began to drag her out of the class, “Mr. Xavier wanted me to show you your locker.” Les pulled her just out of sight of Mr. Small and then let go of her arm, “Sorry about that, hate to get off to such a bad foot.” There was an awkward pause between the two. As their eyes met, it seemed like some how they knew with each other, like they had once met before.

After what seemed like years he decided to break the silence. “Uh… hi, I’m Les.”

“I’m Yukino…” She tore her gaze from Les’ eyes to his sketch book remembering the insignia, “… can I see it.”

Les blushed luckily Yukino’s eyes was fixed on his sketch book and not his face, “Uh sure… there is only one thing in it though.” He reluctantly handed her the sketch book, but his surprise she didn’t open it. She was staring at the logo on the cover.

“Where did you get the idea for this?” she asked

“Internet, I…” He paused; Yukino’s frown stopped him, “What’s wrong.”

“Oh, it is nothing it is just that it looked… familiar.”

There was another long moment of silence, but this time it felt more uncomfortable. There was a painful stillness in the air, but Les interrupted the silence again, “So… uh, what class do you have next?”

Yukino almost whispered her answer, “Science.”

“Do you mind if I walk you there, I have it too.”

“… No.” The pair began to walk down the hallway.

“Uh, so…Yukino why don’t you look inside?” Les gestured towards the sketch book she was still holding, “I drew you I hope you don’t mind.”

-End.-

Yeah this is yet another novel/comic I was planning a whiles back. Maybe 6 or 7 months ago ( had the original idea like 3 years ago). It was a pretty good love story spanning the time of a year. Any way uh what do you think is it worth continueing, Is it in thr right spot?...
