garbage?

She shivered, and lay her head on her knees. Her love, her life, her whole world...gone. She felt the fist of lonelyness squeeze her chest, and choked. She didn't feel the tears streaming down her cheeks, to splatter on the hands clasped tightly against her breast. She didn't fight the cold, seeping through her limbs, to clench at her veins, her heart. The numbness started in her toes, crawling ever upwards offering release. She didn't hear the scream, the burst of bleeding denial and fear from deep down inside her soul.

I don't know what this is, where it came from...other than within my jumbled head....and I sure as heck don't know what to do with it, besides crumple it up on the napkin I wrote it on and file it away in the little round basket in the corner. Hey...why not.

I really like this paragraph; you should save it. Some day soon, you may get a story idea and this bit will fit in perfectly, or you may decide to base a poem on it. Once thrown away, it can be hard to recapture an idea well and even harder to do it with the same emotion as you did in the original. I learned this the hard way a long time ago. Now I keep notebooks full of snippets like yours and I would never throw one away even though I only use a small percentage of them.

Thanks Daniela...I guess it doesn't hurt anything to save it. As a matter of fact, I just (not 10 mins ago) went on a hectic search for a piece of napkin I scribbled on and tossed aside because I thought it was hopeless...now I wish I knew where I tossed it.

You're welcome, but why are you writing on napkins? I think it is time for you to invest in a small memo pad that can fit in your pocket.

I like it, it grips the attention. It would be a great start to a novel or short story. Sometimes I find that the things you write on napkins are the truly great ideas you have, but daniela may be right, a notebook would probably be a good idea for keeping those ideas in, rather than accumulating a collection of napkins.

I never write like that and I'm always intrigued by those who do. Is this worth saving? I would say so but it also has a degree of familiarity which would need to be addressed to make it fresh. I'm not suggesting it's plagerized but just that it's an all too familiar situation. How do I write? Well, I have niggling ideas that rattle around in my head for hours - days - months and then .. shazam! The ones that don't stay there never make it into print. They are my file 13 and I never remember where I've put it.
