Super Fashion Girl Vs the Ugly Machine
Hey, this was a childrens story i started years ago (for my younger sister actually!), but i dumped it. Found it in my files the other day, and thought i'd share it here - i actually think an oldr version is around here somewhere!
Super Fashion Girl Vs the Ugly Machine
Tia Sanchez glared up at the class clock, demanding it to move faster. Why would the bell not just hurry up and ring? Once again time had slowed, as it always did in her final class of the day. It was time’s little joke on all school children, making the last hour of the school day seem endless.
Tia was fourteen (going on twenty), single (not looking, either), bored with school (who isn’t?), and late (as usual). She had an important task to fulfil – her superhuman senses tingled, as the image of a young woman crying into the ripped remains of a brand new Versace top appeared in her minds eye.
Tick, tick. Time continued to move slowly - as it always seemed to do when a fashion disaster occurred while she was at school.
Finally the end of day bell rang. She barely heard her teacher shouting about homework as she darted for the exit, grabbing her designer bag along the way, her fashionable shoes burning serious rubber out of the classroom.
Moments later Tia broke out of the school doors, scarcely registering the sweet smell of summer, and rushed into a close by clump of bushes. A whiz/twirl later, Tia Sanchez, your average fourteen-year-old, became Super Fashion Girl – heroine to those in fashion crisis, and advisor to top designers across the globe (where did you think they got their good ideas? Themselves?)
Faster than the human eye could see, she flew high into the sky (of course she can fly!), used her Super Fashion Senses and located the problem. Her super-heroine costume was, naturally, the most fashionable of gear. Her father being a great inventor, and having even greater credit limits, she had no trouble acquiring the latest and best. The obligatory mask, in her case, was a Tommy Hilfiger sleep mask, appropriately holed to give her super-vision full range. As ever, a superhero must hide their identity, it came with the territory.
Minutes later, Super Fashion Girl was tapping on a distraught girl’s bedroom window – floating in the air like an angel from heaven. The poor girl, wiping tear drenched eyes and holding her ruined top, crossed the room in stunned disbelief. She hesitantly opened the window.
‘Super Fashion Girl?’ She sobbed.
The Fashion Heroine smiled her diamond smile. ‘Why, of course. Here’s a new top, enjoy the party.’ She then held out a brand new top, and the girl excitedly accepted it.
Fashion disaster averted, Super Fashion Girl bade the now grinning girl good-day and vanished ladylike into the air.
A job well done.
Tias' day to day life was very like this – rushing here and there helping people with their clothing and style problems, and preventing fashion disasters. Balancing her normal schoolgirl life with her hero antics was hard, but someone had to do it! Since she was young she knew she was different – she always knew the best clothes to buy, which T.V shows to watch, which music to listen too etc. As soon as she turned thirteen her parents dropped the bombshell – that she was different, but not in a bad way, but in a way she could help others across the world.
Through the ages her family had a gift, a secret legacy that helped humanity. The Sanchez females discovered their Super powers upon becoming teenagers – they gained the ability to fly; they had super speed; the fashion senses kicked in, and each had a personal power (Tia’s mother could see for miles – horrible for a child, as her mum could see round corners and basically did have eyes on the back of her head!). Tia was still to discover her personal power, something she constantly thought about.
Yet where there is good, there is the flip side. Tias’ mother, Super Fashion Woman, had fought many Evil beings – Evil Flu Man, Ripped Dress Boy, Tripping on Catwalk Lady, to name but a few. Without the Sanchez family (for females always kept their original surnames, even when married), anarchy and fashion disasters would spread across Earth.
Another downfall to this super life was keeping everything secret – enemies at every corner, and nosey reporters looking for the scoop of the year, continually interfered with all their work.
Tia had a feeling that there was going to be a problem in her area soon. The past few weeks had been busier than usual – especially around her school, which worried her the most. Was there an enemy close to home? If so, they were working right under her nose, which infuriated her. Tia had spoken to her mother about it the other day: ‘Evil always puts a foot wrong eventually,’ she had said. ‘Just look out for the signs, they are always there.’
Tia had expected more help than that, but she guessed her mother wanted her to do it for herself for the experience or something. That night Super Fashion Girl had three more call outs, and by the time she made it home, Tia was dead on her feet. She was so tired, in fact, that all thoughts of homework escaped her mind.
* * *
Detention! Tia could not believe it. When had her teacher mentioned the homework? Surely he was making it up just to punish her for some sick reason. Maybe he was Evil, and planning some horrid way to make her life hell? Evil Detention Man - that would be his name. Tired from the previous days exertions, having detention during lunch was so the worst thing that could happen. She had wanted to meet up with her friends and find out why Lara had not turned up for school again. There were rumours that she had not been seen in days, and Tracy Biggins in Maths had commented that Lara’s family and the police were out looking for her.
Had she been kidnapped? Or worse? Tia had had a horrible gut feeling upon hearing the gossip, possibly born from her superhuman senses, that something was indeed wrong. Yet this time she could not get out of detention to find out any more information.
‘I am sorry Miss Sanchez, but I have given you enough chances.’ Mr Graves, her English Teacher had said. ‘Come to my classroom at lunch, you can catch up on your work then.’
She had tried to argue, but even as she opened her mouth to give an excuse he had arched his brow into his ‘and that’s final’ look.
So Tia had to wait until the end of day to talk to her friends – they had long ago been split up in their classes (stylist ladies had many things to discuss, no matter where they were) – so talking to them had not been an option. Finally they all met at the bus stop outside the school.
Tia’s friends were obviously the most fashionable in the school, a bunch of high class chicks that always wore the best clothes, listened to the classiest music, and were (of course) the most sought after girls. However, today all of that was put to the back of their minds. What had happened to their friend? By now, Tia’s super senses were tingling, as if they were trying to tell her something but could not. It was frustrating and her mood had turned very frosty.
‘Well, something is up, she always answers her mobile,’ Tiffany voiced, flicking back her long strawberry blond hair.
‘Yeah, but she’s been acting so weird lately,’ replied Kim.
Tia, leaning on the bus stop, turned to her small friend. ‘In what way?’
‘Well, she started listening to this weird music, and I’m sure she was wearing old jeans the last time I saw her.’
‘That can be fashionable sometimes.’ Interrupted Tiffany.
‘Yeah, but they were brown. And it was with a pink, flowery top. I’m sure it was her’
They all gasped: ‘No!’ in unison.
‘There is definitely something going on,’ Tia said, shaking her head. ‘I don’t know what yet, but there is a mystery to be solved.’ She stood up and shouldered her bag. ‘I’ll meet you guys later; I’m off to see a friend’
Kim nodded knowingly. ‘To see you know who?’
‘Yep, I think this is a job for Super Fashion Girl. I’ll see you later.’ With that Tia strode off down the street. Her friends did not fully suspect her superhero alter ego yet, but merely thought Tia was lucky to know their hero.
This sounded more than just a fashion disaster. It was much worse. There was Evil abroad and Tia had to discover where it was, and how to defeat it. Super Fashion Girl had a mystery to solve and an adversary to defeat.
Buy most importantly: a friend to save.

Cute story. I think young teen girls, as well as some pre-teens, would like this.
