You know what we posters should do? (of course we don't)

Before posting up your extract, you should include a short synopsis at the top, so that people can see what it's about before they read it. It could intrigue or... not. But seeing some heavy-duty prose that goes on for several 20000 word-limit posts doesn't make me wanna dive in (lazines, don't ya know).

So for all those who bother to read this, I say unto you: write a synopsis before you paste your extract up - intrigue us. Should we be doing this anyway? If so, then I am simply posting this rant to restate this advice.

I second this - good advice Hippohead. I always try to give people some sort of idea of what they're about to read...

Hey, just read the end of your post Lin. Maybe thats why I get so few people reading/commenting on my work... Just die hards like Hippohead

Sometimes it works, sometimes it is pretentious.

I used to write a synopsis but then I read another thread on here that said it's better just to start with the piece itself. I still do, kind of

and LOL to Ox!!

most people who have taken this advice seem to put a synopsis of their entire story which we won't even read. Peeps, I just meant a synopsis of what you're about to write in here (unless you intend on postin up your whole novel)
