Blog DC
Just a little project I am working on to write a teenage novel in the style of a blog, about the 'beautiful' people of a British secondary school.
Blog DC
9th September
We are now online.
First let’s introduce myself. To all of you the name's DC, because if anybody I know is reading this then they may not like what I have to say, namely the truth, and that could cause problems for me, and what you have to know is that I really care about myself, and if I do anything to jeopardize my own health, well, that’s not a risk I am prepared to take.
So, to fill you all in, I am here to reveal all the details about little old End Bridge School, a crappy old secondary school straight from an undisclosed area of Britain. Yes, I am a student, but one in the know about everything that goes on amongst the ‘Beautiful’ people, and ready to bring it straight to anybody that is reading right now.
Let’s make things perfectly clear, you will be hearing a lot more from DC in the near future, some you’ll like, some you wont., but let me make one guarantee, you wont be able to look away.
A new school year brings new loves, new hates and the always popular new secrets. From the looks of things there has been something of a hierarchical change in End Bridge’s ‘Beautiful’ crowd, with somebody being shunned, for the sole reason that Ms. Beautiful herself, Zara Bea, told people too. Here’s a little info on those involved in this little love triangle.
Zara Bea
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Relationship Status: Dating Michael Crane
Queen of the ‘Beautiful’ people (despite there being no actual elections for this kind of thing), Zara is the definition of the ‘Beautiful’ crowd at End Bridge. Rich parents, her fathers a top Lawyer who barely spends any time at home, while her mother spends too much time at home, where she gets through many a bottle of wine per day. Zara has an incredible figure, long blonde hair, nice green eyes, looks that most girls would kill for. Zara can have any guy she wants, and often does. She is currently dating Lilly Harper’s ex, Michael Cray.
Not the smartest girl around school Zara still manages to get excellent grades. My sources tell me that maybe the headmaster is a little short on money right now. Zara is the traditional ‘Beauty’, sticking to her own social circle, and refusing to be seen with anybody deemed un-cool.
Michael Crane
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Relationship Status: Dating Zara Bea
Michael Crane is the envy of every guy at End Bridge. With rich parents, good looks and a great dress sense his school life has been a breeze. He formerly dated Lilly Harper, but over the summer has broken up with Lilly and can now be seen alongside Zara Bea wherever she goes. The question on everyone’s lips is why did he break up with Lilly?
Michaels is the traditional jock when ever it comes to school, and my sources tell me that he can often be found paying off the academics off End Bridge in order to get the grades.
Lilly Harper
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Relationship Status: Single. Formerly dating Michael Crane.
Lilly Harper, formerly the second top ‘Beauty’ at End Bridge, she is now firmly out of that crowd after the summer. Lilly actually is the better looking of the former Zara/ Lilly friendship. With golden blonde hair and deep blue eyes, and not forgetting pretty impressive assets up front. Prior to the summer Lilly was still firmly a fixture on the party scene, but what could have been so bad that she has been so badly downgraded on the End Bridge ladder?
Lilly’s personality closely resembles that off new ‘Beauty’ Kelly. Smart and confident Lilly was slowly becoming more popular that Zara around End Bridge, and getting better grades at the same time.

Very, very intriguing... The way DC writes strikes me as very thorough, to the point of being obsessive. She is either someone in the circle itself, or someone who is very, very troubled to have such a preoccupation with the cool kids. I think it would make for an incredible story if you were to play this up, whichever scenario it is. Drop hints to make the reader curious about DC's real-life role in all of this. You might even be able to make use of fictional Blog comments, should someone else discover this virtual Harriet-the-Spy.
If I were you I wouldn't post the character introductions so bluntly. It makes one feel as if they are reading a list. Try pacing them out a little more-- for example, posting a character's profile only when they are introduced in the course of DC's story, or perhaps at the end of every chapter, to progressively add clarity as the plot unfolds. Also, you might want to tie the girls and Micheal more closely to the school, since this is presumably where DC observes them. How are they doing in their classes? What is their relation to other cliques in the school? Where do they hang out? Geography can only help you.

11th September
So the new school year kicked off with a bang at End Bridge. Being a posh school, which costs a lot to get in; you would expect the school to be full of stuck up post brats, well, your right, for the most part. Most of the school are rich and stuck up, but some of the people that go to this school are actually semi decent, but then they are no fun to follow.
Scene of the day has to go to the meeting between Lilly and Zara at the school gates. If looks could kill then both would sadly, or not so sadly, no longer be with us right now. Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against Lilly Harper, but the moment she got involved with the ‘Beautiful’ people it becomes almost impossible to have even a shred of sympathy for the girl.
And my sources around End Bridge have informed me of a little student/ teacher thing going on at the school. I will do everything in my power as a journalist to discover the truth of this story.
Now to a little request to all the readers that I have received in the brief day that we have been online, here at Blog DC I want to give you all the very best dirt on the ‘Beautiful’ people of End Bridge, but I cant be around 24/7, so any extra dirt you have, send it in.
12th September
I thought that I would share with you all a very nice comment that I received last night from one Zara Bea.
Listen whoever you are, I don’t care if you are a stalker or whatever, but keep your face out of my business, you want to know why Lilly Harper is out, because she is a two faced cow. So shut this stupid blog down now!
From the kind of literature in that comment I have obviously proved wrong when I said Zara wasn’t the smartest girl around. My apologies Zara, and I hope you will forgive me.

Ignore this post. (Just the beginning of the next one. I accidentally clicked submit twice and tried to stop it but it posted anyway.)

Wow, reading the intro and the post previous to this one, it's all great. Just reading it inspired me. I wish I had thought of it myself. I might try writing a little bit of a story in a style like this. But props to you. You're doing something great here.
I love the amount of mystery and reader involvement in the story. It's simply wonderful. I know that sounds like a joke, but it's not. I really love this. I'm keeping an eye on this project of yours.
My one suggestion, I think, would be to include as much of DC's personality in his words as possible. When reading, people like to relate to their characters through their personality. Usually, a character's personality is described by their actions in the story. However, because this is a blog, everything is just his words. I think it might be a challenge, but will make it a more interesting story if the reader can relate to this mysterious DC. You're actually already doing it a little bit, but you might want to experiment with writing one of the blog entries, then rewriting the post with as much of DC's personality revealed in it as possible. Then you can pick and choose to see what you like and don't like. Just a suggestion.

Have you been watching Gossip Girl by any chance?
But I have enjoyed reading this, and I hope you continue with it.
One nit:
Zara Bea
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Relationship Status: Dating Michael Cray
Michael Crane
I assume it's the same person?

I love it! It's really good how you've started, and keeping a hidden identity is always good. There were a few spelling mistakes, eg Cray and Crane, but I can get past them.
The character of DC is intriguing - male or female? I don't think you mentioned that, but still, it's pretty good not knowing, cos it does have that air of mystery about it. After all, DC could be Lilly Harper. Or Michael Cray/Crane. I guess we'll never know.
Also, it does sound like Gossip Girl but plonked in Britain. I personally don't have a problem with it, but if you are wanting to publish, there may be copyright issues that crop up.
Keep up the good work, and I look forward to hearing more from DC!
