War of Nod: Prologue

Prologue
"Ha ha ha." Ace laughed at Dwayne in a cynical fashion as he ran circles around the younger wizard. "You have to be faster than that to catch me, young cousin!" As they rushed around the small wizard town all the older, more mature wizards looked at them, some reminiscing about their childhood from hundreds of years ago, others just keeping their opinions about the troublemaking kids to themselves. The 2 young wizards rounded an older house and went out of the village. Now they were running in the grassy side of the hills that leads up to the mountains.

"Wait a second," Dwayne huffed out as he tried to catch his breath, his older cousin was barely winded. "Not all of us had a chance to spend time training with the warriors on the other side of the mountain." Dwayne just sat down and rested as Ace decided to take out his sword and practice some of his combat skills he picked up in the two years he spent in the East."

Finally, after about 5 minutes of resting, the two young, mischievous wizards decided to explore around the caves that lead into the mountains. "I wonder if we'll find anything today." Dwayne asks Ace. "Whatever it is, just remember not to blow it again by running your mouth to Grandfather." Ace responds sharply. The two knew that the caves are off limits to any individuals, regardless of race, who have not received special permission from either the king or the Elder Wizard.

As they reach the cave, Dwayne decided to use a Sun Spell to light up the dark caves. They found one tunnel that they have never seen before. "I wonder what's in there?" Ace hinted to Dwayne. "Probably something very important if the elder decided to hide it so well." Dwayne replied. "Let's check it out,” they both say at the same time. As they start walking, they notice a little crawlspace at the bottom of the tunnel and decide to crawl through. When they get to the other side, they see a huge chest locked by magic. They glance at each other and glance at the chest and begin to circle around it.

"WHAT ARE YOU TWO DOING IN HERE?" they hear a loud thunderous voice echo through the room. They turn around and they see their grandfather standing there with his arms crossed apparently thoroughly upset at them. He grabs them by the arms and casts a teleportation spell that sends them to his small hut in the middle of the town.

"We are sorry, Grandfather." Dwayne replied quickly. "It was all Dwayne's idea!" Ace said as he cowardly points to his younger cousin. The older and much wiser wizard turned around.

"What am I going to do with you two? Do you have any idea what the Elder Wizard would say if he found out that you two went exploring in there again?" The grandfather turned back to them. "Sit down, I think it is time to tell both of you about the true secrets of the cave and the rest of the world." The two sat down in their favorite chairs as the grandfather sat down in his old rocking chair that his lover made for him centuries ago. He began to explain the history of the War of Nod.

Now, this is the first part of my first story. Basically, this is the first thing that I've ever wrote, I know it's not very good and it's just an outline. I'm trying to get opinions now and also proofreading and grammar and spelling. I know the formatting is messed up, but for some reason, Word messed up and i couldn't fix it. So, I'm sorry about the line spacing going from double to single halfway through and back to double. Thanks in advance for the input.

EDIT: okay, when i posted it, it looked different than the HTML window thingy, so i don't know what the deal is with the formatting, so if you could just ignore the formatting that'd be great! LOL.
