The Vaga-Band

This is my idea for a fiction. This is only the plot, not the writing itself. I want to see what you guys have to say about my plot before I go off writing the actual thing. Keep in mind, it's only the plot, the story itself will follow if the plot is good. This is only part 1, the rest will follow later.

Rob Troublefield awakes after falling asleep in class for the 3rd time this week. His teacher, being the caring person she is, politely requests that he go to the nurse, because she doesn't believe that his falling asleep is just because he's tired. She thinks there is something that he's not telling her. Rob reluctantly agrees to go to the nurse. Upon his arrival at the nurses office, the nurse demands to know why he is here. He explains to her how he fell asleep in class for the 3rd time in one week. Her eyes narrow and she let's out an "ahh" as if she understood everything. She then tells him how he has been smoking weed. Of course, Rob hasn't actually been smoking weed, the nurse just over reacts to everything. Rob tries to tell her that he hasn't been smoking but she doesn't listen. She orders him to sit down and tilt his head back. Reluctantly, Rob agrees. She shines a flashlight in his eye and does that thing with the popsickle stick on his tounge. She then reaches her conclusion, that he has indeed been smoking. (Which, keep in mind, he hasn't). She commands him to go home and tells him that she will be making a phone call to his parents. That fact hit Rob rather hard because Rob didn't have any parents, he lived with his Uncle, who was cool, but was no substitute for real parents. On the way home Rob hears something. He hears one of the saddest songs he's ever heard, only it was just a guitar melody. A blues guitar melody to be exact. But, in the melody, there seemed to be some suggestion of hope. He followed the sound for about 15 minutes until he came to a run down apartment building. He went around the alley in the side and climbed up a fire escape. He looked through the open window at the one playing the guitar. The guitarist looked back at him. He got up and went over to Rob. He asked why he was there and not in school. Rob explained how he fell asleep in class for the 3rd time in one week, and how the nurse thought he was on pot and sent him home, but he heard the guitar playing and followed it here. The guitarist chuckled and invited Rob in, reluctantly, he agreed. They watched tv and the guitarist introduced himself as Jack Rabbit (Last name Rabbit, first name jack). He told him of how he used to hate his parents for giving him that name but it time it had grown into kind of a nickname. They then began to talk of what it would be like to get away from the hellhole town they live in. Jack suggest that they ride the rails from town to town and start a band. Rob likes the idea and pitches the name The Vaga-Band, because of the fact that they would be travelling like vagabonds. Jack loves the idea and makes the decision that they will leave tommorow morning on the first train out. On the way home, Rob begins to have second thoughts, but he then decided that he isn't going anywhere in this town, so he might as well try his luck in a travelling band. He prepares a goodbye note and packs up his drumset, along with jacks instructions on how to get them out of the house and on the train without attracting suspicion.

Alright, I'm aware that it was VERY vauge, and very poorly written, but that is basically just a skeleton of what the story will be like. The story itself will be much better, I promise!

Thanks, I'm going to work on this a little tonight and probably should be finished soon, as long as I don't slack off. I'll post part one as soon as possible.

Adventure stories, especially the more out-there ones (like a couple of people deciding to ride the rails to wherever fate takes them) can be extremely entertaining, I think. Lots will probably tell you this, but it all depends on what you do with it.

I almost envision a Forest Gump experience, given the amount of freedom this setup would give you to play around with anything and everything.
