Devon is an unknown quantity at this point
Well said, Clancyboy! Well said!

It's hard in this "fast-food, I want it now, I have barely any attention span" day and age to write something that won't get rejected as "too slow" or have someone comment that it has too many larger words. (If you need to look up a word or two, all the better for learning something you didn't know prior to picking the book up.)

A happy medium is what we asipring writers need to strive for. That, and the confidence to stand up for our own hard work.

swimfanatic is on a distinguished road
ClancyBoy and Devon: Thank you sooooo much for your support! I do understand when people want something to happen, since it's a book and something's supposed to happen. But as ClancyBoy said, it doesn't always happen right away. The readers have to have some patience, I'm afraid to say (at least for those who don't have any). Some books take more 'backstory', as ClancyBoy said, before the real action begins. And mine just happens to be a story where there's some backstory before anything significant actually happens. I'm really sorry. I'm not an action-adventure writer. This is fantasy, and a lot of times things don't occur at lightning speed right from the first word.
Thanks again, guys! You don't know how much I appreciate it!
