Necessary Evil

They say that when you die your life flashes before you eyes. As death’s chill breath caresses your skin the bittersweet memories live for a single moment, frozen in picture perfect detail. Oh but they lie. As I felt the reapers cold blade I saw not all the perfect times and lost regrets but the future that I was meant to live. Before me stood glittering, promises of a life so beyond even my subconscious that I fought. I had committed the too common error of underestimating myself, of settling, of giving in to the pressures of life. What lay still in my mind was a brilliant picture, too far beyond belief to logically understand. It was felt, absorbed into my bones as my destiny. With it I rose again, drew in breath, and fought to live.

So? Does she make it or what?

In all seriousness though, this is an interesting little vignette. It's an interesting take on death. Rather than the warm and fuzzy judeo-christian idea of "going into the light towards something better" or looking back fondly on the life you lived, you're saying that death is a fundamentally regretful process - we lament what we could have been would that we had more time.

So if you'll favour us, because I'm having trouble with my own writing process, what was your motivation for writing this? What did you want to say?

yes, he makes it. Actually it's kind of funny because I have never written a story with a male lead character. But this one just kind of drew me in. It's just starting, it's going to be a political revolution. We'll see though, need to do more reasearch.

Umm, this one I don't know where it came from. I get a lot from dreams. Like The Burning. I don't usually have a problem of not having anything to write, just too many ideas. I have trouble sticking with one topic. Also think alot while I'm driving. I really need to get a little handheld recorder. I was sitting in the gas station while I wrote this.
