“The Knock”


David was awakened by a “click, click, click” noise. it was 530am. He thought maybe a neighbor had knocked on his door about his car lights or trunk being up.
As he looked out peephole there was no one there.
David went back to bed and then heard it again louder than the last tme and now it 615am. “Sally ,you hear that?”
“I don’t hear anything David and its early go back to sleep” Was her reply.
He could not go back to sleep so he got up and cleaned up and dressed and went into Kitchen started the water
for coffee and went into living room and sat down and waited.
Sally got up and put on her robe and complained about a noise she heard thinking it was David making the noise.
Then a very loud “KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK!” David jumped up and really pissed ran to the door and opened it.
No one there. “What in heck is going on?” he yelled to Sally.
“David what are you doing ,I didn‘t hear anything?”
David motioned for her to come and look at floor outside the door.
She did and they both saw what look liked muddy footprints. She saw the footprints but did not hear the “knock”.
Then to David it felt like and earthquake and he yelled a Sally tot hold onto something as he saw books falling off the bookshelves and
lamps falling over but sally didn’t seem to be bothered and he thought that wierd.
“David are you all right” Sally asked as she saw him almost fall over.
He wasn’t sure but to his surprise no books had fallen or lamps not turned over. He wondered if he was going nuts.
Then Sally yelled. She saw the footprints turn red and they started to move inside house slowly. They both yelled.
“Knock, Knock, Knock” was heard by Sally as she woke up David and it was 530am .
He didn’t hear anything and told her to go back to sleep.

Would you get back up again and go to the door???

Numerous typos, English mistakes and I don't really understand the ending. I suggest taking a small section and developing it in detail, building tension and adding atmosphere. It might be useful to find flash fiction of the suspense/horror genre and see how others do it. It is difficult to do this in a short piece.
